T\u00e4m\u00e4n perusteella muodostettiin nelj\u00e4 tutkimuskysymyst\u00e4, jotka keskittyv\u00e4t et\u00e4ty\u00f6kontekstissa tapahtuvaan kommunikointiin, yhteisty\u00f6h\u00f6n, ty\u00f6n tuottavuuteen, et\u00e4ty\u00f6n vaikutukseen ty\u00f6tyytyv\u00e4isyyden ja ty\u00f6n ja muun el\u00e4m\u00e4n tasapainon suhteen. Lis\u00e4ksi keskityt\u00e4\u00e4n ketterien menetelmien sujuvuuteen et\u00e4ty\u00f6ss\u00e4, sill\u00e4 tutkimuksen kohteena ovat ketteri\u00e4 menetelmi\u00e4 hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4v\u00e4t paikalliset tuotekehitystiimit.\nTy\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4 ja ty\u00f6nteon tavat ovat muuttuneet vuosien saatossa erityisesti digitalisaation takia. T\u00e4m\u00e4n lis\u00e4ksi koronapandemia on saanut yritykset huomaamaan, ett\u00e4 monia ty\u00f6teht\u00e4vi\u00e4 voidaan tehd\u00e4 joustavammin, kuin ehk\u00e4 aikaisemmin on ajateltu. Tuotekehitt\u00e4j\u00e4t ovat eritt\u00e4in kilpailtuja ty\u00f6markkinoilla, jonka takia yritysten on t\u00e4rke\u00e4 pysty\u00e4 sopeutumaan kilpailuun tarjoamalla esimerkiksi joustavampia ty\u00f6tapoja s\u00e4ilytt\u00e4\u00e4kseen kilpailukykyns\u00e4 ja houkuttelevuutensa ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden silmiss\u00e4.\nEmpiirinen tutkimus on toteutettu monimenetelm\u00e4isesti. Tutkimusdata on ker\u00e4tty verkkopohjaisella kyselylomakkeella (N=67). Tulosten perusteella voidaan todeta, ett\u00e4 kommunikointi ja yhteisty\u00f6 virtuaalisessa kontekstissa on p\u00e4\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6isesti onnistunutta, haasteet liittyv\u00e4t erityisesti koronapandemian takia l\u00e4hes kokonaan puuttuvat toimistolla tapahtuvat kohtaamiset. Tiimit n\u00e4kev\u00e4t, ett\u00e4 ty\u00f6n tuottavuus ei ole k\u00e4rsinyt et\u00e4ty\u00f6n takia, ja tulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 keskittyminen voi olla jopa helpompaa kotona, koska h\u00e4iri\u00f6it\u00e4 voi olla v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n verrattuna toimistotilaan. Eristyneisyys ja viestinn\u00e4n puute voivat heikent\u00e4\u00e4 tuottavuutta (Rose, 2016) ja ilmi\u00f6 oli osittain n\u00e4ht\u00e4viss\u00e4 tutkimustuloksissa. N\u00e4iden tulosten perusteella suositellaan, ett\u00e4 tiimit hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4v\u00e4t et\u00e4ty\u00f6t\u00e4 my\u00f6s jatkossa, kuitenkaan unohtamatta kasvokkain tapahtuvia kohtaamisia, sill\u00e4 sen avulla voidaan kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 kommunikointia, yhteisty\u00f6t\u00e4 ja luottamusta.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The purpose of this study is to review and examine how Ericsson Finland could improve flexible ways of working but still maintain efficient teamwork and additionally consider business - and people\u2019s personal needs in the agile software development unit. Therefore, four research questions were formed to address topics regarding virtual communication and cooperation, productivity in remote work, the effect of remote work on job satisfaction, and work-life balance. Additionally, agile ways of working in a virtual context is reviewed, as the teams in scope are local agile teams.\nWorking life has changed during the years, mainly due to digitalization but especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, many organizations have noticed that work can be done successfully by using more flexible ways of working. Competition around competent software developers is high, there-fore it is vital to answer the demands of job markets, and flexibility is seen as one aspect that can attract new and current talents.\nThe empirical study of this paper is conducted as a mixed methods research. Data was collected with an online survey (N=67). Results indicate that virtual communication and collaboration have mainly been successful, yet there are some minor challenges mostly due to the Covid-19 situation that has eliminated almost all face-to-face encounters. Teams consider that their work productivity has not suffered due to remote work, and results also highlighted that focus can be better when working from home since there are fewer disturbances than in the open office. Feeling of isolation and lack of communication can harm work productivity (Rose, 2016; Sobel Lojeski & Reilly 2020), which was slightly visible also in this study. Results related to job satisfaction and work-life bal-ance indicate that on one hand increased autonomy has improved job satisfaction and for instance, employees are highly satisfied that they have more time for themselves and their families. Also, flexible working possibilities ease arranging private appointments and managing kinds, yet for some individuals, flexible working blurs work-life balance and causes challenges in private life. Also, agile methods were seen to work well remotely and the overall feedback was very good regarding agile ways of working.
