Viimeisten viiden vuoden aikana ohjelmistorobotiikka on vakiinnuttanut asemansa osana yritysten IT-ekosysteemi\u00e4. Hankintatoimessa digitalisaatio on synnytt\u00e4nyt uusia toimintatapoja, ja samalla k\u00e4ynnist\u00e4nyt koko alaa koskevan palveluiden ja prosessien s\u00e4hk\u00f6ist\u00e4misen. T\u00e4m\u00e4 muutos on tuonut mukanaan kysynn\u00e4n automatisoiduille hankintaprosesseille ja mahdollistanut yhteisty\u00f6n eri teknologioiden ja toimijoiden kesken. T\u00e4m\u00e4 toimeksiantona toteutettu pro gradu tutkimus tarkastelee ohjelmistorobotiikkaa hankintatoimen automatisoinnin n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. Tutkimusongelmaksi m\u00e4\u00e4riteltiin, miten ohjelmistorobotiikka soveltuu hankintatoimen tietoj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n automatisointiin ja mill\u00e4 tavalla tunnistetaan tietoj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4st\u00e4 ohjelmistorobotiikalle soveltuvat automatisoitavat prosessit. Tutkimuksen teoreettisena pohjana on ohjelmistorobotiikkaa liiketoimintaprosessien automatisoinnissa tarkasteleva systemaattinen kirjallisuuskatsaus ja kuvaus hankintatoimesta alan tutkimuskirjallisuuteen perustuen. Empiirinen tutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena. Se koostui toimeksiantajayrityksen asiantuntijoille suunnatuista kysely- ja teemahaastattelututkimuksista ja toimeksiantajan IT-kumppaniyrityksen asiantuntijoiden ryhm\u00e4haastattelusta. Tutkimuksen aineistot analysoitiin sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysi menetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4. Tulokset ryhmiteltiin kolmeen p\u00e4\u00e4kategoriaan. Ne liittyiv\u00e4t ohjelmistorobotiikan j\u00e4rjestelmi\u00e4 integroiviin, prosesseja parantaviin ja tietojen k\u00e4sittely\u00e4 sis\u00e4lt\u00e4viin toiminnallisiin alueisiin. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen perusteella voidaan todeta, ett\u00e4 koko hankintaprosessi ei sovellu automatisoitavaksi ohjelmistorobotiikalla. Sen sijaan tuloksina l\u00f6ydettiin ohjelmistorobotiikan soveltuvuuskohteita hankinnan suunnittelun, toimittajavalinnan ja sopimusten hallinnan osa-alueista. Johtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6ksin\u00e4 ohjelmistorobotiikka soveltuisi ihmisk\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4\u00e4 avustavaan rooliin ja mahdollisesti Lite-kilpailutusprosessin ja sopimuksesta-hankintaan -prosessin t\u00e4ydelliseen automatisointiin hankintatoimen tietoj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4ss\u00e4. During the past five years, RPA has established a central role in the corporate IT ecosystem. In procurement, digitalization has accelerated the rise of new ways of working and simultaneously launched the digitalization of services and processes. Digitalization has also catalyzed the demand for automated procurement processes and enabled co-operation bet-ween different technologies and participants. The objective of this research is to study RPA in the context of procurement business process automation. The research is conducted as a case study based on an assignment. In detail, this research focuses on how RPA can be applied in the automatization of a procurement information system and how to identify the suitable processes which can be automated. First, a literature study on robotic process automation, business process automation and use of RPA in business process automation is conducted. In addition, procurement as a target domain is described. The empirical part is conducted as a qualitative study including a survey, semi-structured interviews, and a group interview. Empirical research material is analyzed by using content analysis. Results of the analysis were categorized to three main categories concerning the areas in which RPA can be applied: integration of systems, process enhancement and information processing. As a result, it is suggested that the entire procurement process is not suitable to be automated with RPA. Instead, the results found suitable parts to be automated in procurement planning, supplier selection and contract management. As a conclusion, RPA was found to be suitable in a human-assisting role. In addition, RPA could enable the full automation of Lite -tender and contract to procurement -processes in the procurement information system.
