ITIL:n uusi versio sisältää muun muassa leanin, ketterien menetelmien ja DevOpsin metodologioiden hyödyntämiset, jotka ovat vaihtoehtona perinteisille IT-alan kehitysmenetelmil-le, kuten esimerkiksi vesiputousmallille. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on ollut tutkia erinäisiä mahdollisuuksia, jota ITIL:n soveltamisesta voidaan saada hyödyntämällä leania, ketteriä menetelmiä ja DevOpsia parantaakseen asiakastukeen liittyvissä toiminnallisuuksia case-tutkielman organisaatiossa. Tutkielma on jaettu kahteen osaan: kirjallisuuskatsaukseen ja empiiriseen osioon. Kirjallisuuskatsauksessa tarkastellaan ITIL:iä, leania, ketteriä menetelmiä ja DevOpsia yleisesti ja esitellään mahdollisia parannuskeinoja case-tutkielman organisaation toimintatapoja ajatellen. Lisäksi kirjallisuusosion tuloksia käytätetään hyödyksi empiirisen osion haastattelukysymysten luomisessa. Empiirisessä osiossa käydään case-tutkimustapauksen lähtökohtia ja sen tuloksia läpi. ITIL has been considered as a complex framework which have been thought to guide primarily larger size companies. However, the new ITIL version 4 has promised to be more adaptive, agile, and flexible than ITIL has been ever before. New ITIL version involves lean, agile and DevOps phenomena and they represent alternative methodologies compared to traditional IT development methodologies, such as waterfall model. The goal of this thesis was to investigate different possibilities enabled by adapting ITIL with lean, agile and DevOps methodologies to improve customer support related activities for case study organization. Thesis is divided into two parts: literature review and empiric study sections. In literature review ITIL, lean, agile and DevOps are introduced and potential improvement possibilities for case study organization (a pseudonym). Later in the empiric study section, a case study is introduced and results of it discussed.
