Sopeutuminen ty\u00f6ss\u00e4 tapahtuviin muutoksiin edellytt\u00e4\u00e4 ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4lt\u00e4 ammatillisen identiteetin muokkaamista, pohdintaa millaisiin arvoihin ja tavoitteisiin on valmis sitoutumaan. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, onko ammatillinen identiteetti yhteydess\u00e4 ty\u00f6hyvinvointiin ja el\u00e4k\u00f6itymiseen. Ammatillista identiteetti\u00e4 tarkasteltiin Marcian teorian nelj\u00e4n identiteettistatuksen avulla, jotka ovat selkiintym\u00e4t\u00f6n, omaksuttu, etsiv\u00e4 ja saavutettu. Ty\u00f6hyvinvointi m\u00e4\u00e4riteltiin ty\u00f6h\u00f6n sitoutumisen, ty\u00f6tyytyv\u00e4isyyden, ty\u00f6holismin ja ty\u00f6uupumuksen kokemuksina. El\u00e4kkeelle siirtymisen ajankohta ja el\u00e4keik\u00e4toive kuvasivat el\u00e4k\u00f6itymist\u00e4.\n\nTutkimuksen aineistona k\u00e4ytettiin Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4n yliopistossa meneill\u00e4\u00e4n olevaa Lapsesta aikuiseksi (LAKU) -pitkitt\u00e4istutkimuksen vuosina 2020\u20132021 ker\u00e4tty\u00e4 aineistoa. Tuolloin tutkittavat olivat noin 61-vuotiaita. T\u00e4h\u00e4n tutkimukseen osallistui yhteens\u00e4 203 tutkittavaa, joista naisia oli 107 ja miehi\u00e4 96. Ammatillinen identiteettistatus selvitettiin puolistrukturoidun haastattelun avulla, jonka perusteella haastattelija arvioi tutkittavan identiteettistatuksen. Ty\u00f6h\u00f6n sitoutumista, ty\u00f6tyytyv\u00e4isyytt\u00e4, ty\u00f6holismia ja ty\u00f6uupumusta mitattiin haastattelun yhteydess\u00e4 t\u00e4ytetyill\u00e4 lomakkeilla tai osana postitettua el\u00e4m\u00e4ntilannekysely\u00e4. El\u00e4kkeelle siirtymisen ajankohta ja el\u00e4keik\u00e4toive selvitettiin my\u00f6s el\u00e4m\u00e4ntilannekyselyll\u00e4. Naisten ja miesten v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 eroja eri muuttujien osalta tarkasteltiin Pearsonin \uf0632-riippumattomuustestill\u00e4, Mann-Whitney U -testill\u00e4 sek\u00e4 sovitettujen standardoitujen j\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6sten avulla. Spearmanin korrelaatiokertoimen avulla tarkasteltiin muuttujien v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 korrelaatioita. Ammatillisen identiteetin yhteytt\u00e4 ty\u00f6hyvinvointiin, el\u00e4keik\u00e4toiveeseen ja el\u00e4kkeelle siirtymisen ajankohtaan analysoitiin Kruskal-Wallis ja Mann-Whitney U -testeill\u00e4. \n\nAmmatillinen identiteetti oli yhteydess\u00e4 ty\u00f6h\u00f6n sitoutumisen ja ty\u00f6tyytyv\u00e4isyyden tuntemusten kanssa. Selkiintym\u00e4tt\u00f6m\u00e4n identiteetin omaavilla henkil\u00f6ill\u00e4 ty\u00f6h\u00f6n sitoutuminen oli v\u00e4h\u00e4isemp\u00e4\u00e4 kuin omaksutun identiteetin ja saavutetun identiteetin omaavilla henkil\u00f6ill\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi ammatilliseen identiteettiin sitoutuneet henkil\u00f6t kokivat enemm\u00e4n ty\u00f6h\u00f6n sitoutumista ja ty\u00f6tyytyv\u00e4isyytt\u00e4 verrattuna ammatilliseen identiteettiin sitoutumattomiin henkil\u00f6ihin. Ammatillisella identiteetill\u00e4 ei ollut yhteytt\u00e4 el\u00e4keik\u00e4toiveeseen ja el\u00e4kkeelle siirtymisen ajankohtaan.\n\nTy\u00f6tyytyv\u00e4isyyden ja ty\u00f6h\u00f6n sitoutumisen tuntemukset vaihtelevat ammatillisen identiteettistatusten v\u00e4lill\u00e4. In the middle of change, promoting well-being at work and reducing early retirement is particularly important for the individual\u2019s quality of life and the political economy. Adapting to changes in work requires the employee to modify his or her occupational identity, reflect on what values and goals he or she is ready to commit to. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether occupational identity is related to well-being at work and retirement. Occupational identity was examined using the four identity statuses of Marcia\u2019s theory, which are diffused, moratorium, foreclosed, and achieved. Well-being at work was defined as experiences of work engagement, job satisfaction, workaholism and burnout. Retirement was described by retirement age and the preferred age of retirement.\n\nThis study was based on the Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 Longitudinal Study of Personality and Social Development (JYLS) and particularly its latest data collection phase in 2020\u20132021. At that time, the participants were aged about 61 years. A total of 203 participated in this study, of whom 107 were women and 96 men. Occupational identity status was measured using a semi-structured interview in which the interviewer assessed the identity status of participants. Work engagement, job satisfaction, workaholism and burnout were measured with questionnaires as a part of the interview or a mailed Life Situation Questionnaire (LSQ). Retirement age and the preferred age of retirement were inquired by LSQ. Gender differences in different variables were examined using Pearson\u2019s chi-square test, Mann-Whitney U test and adjusted standardized residuals. Correlations between variables were examined using Spearman\u2019s correlation coefficients. Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to analyze the relationship between occupational identity and well-being at work, retirement age and the preferred age of retirement.\n\nOccupational identity was associated with work engagement and job satisfaction. Participants with a diffused occupational identity had less engagement to work than participants with a foreclosed identity and the participants with an achieved identity. In addition, participants committed to occupational identity experienced more commitment to work and higher job satisfaction compared to those who were not committed to occupational identity. No statistically significant relationship of the occupational identity to retirement age and the preferred age of retirement was observed. \n\nJob satisfaction and work engagement vary between occupational identity statuses. Attention should be paid to strengthening the occupational identity of employees.
