Jotkut nykyisistä adsorbenteista osoittivat yli 3 mmol/g adsorptiokapasiteettia DAC-olosuhteissa. Lisäksi tutkittiin vaihtoehtoja Lewatit ®VP OC 1065:n muokkaamiseksi urea-amiiniksi. Kokeellinen osa keskittyy Lewatit ®VP OC 1065:n muokkaamiseen, siten että se sisältää tertiääriren amiinin, sekä ureaosan. Opinnäytetyön aikakehyksessä oli mahdollista syntetisoida vain yksi modifikaatio Lewatitille. Tämä yksi muunnos osoitti 0,562 mmol/g:n keskimääräisen CO2 adsorption, mutta desorptio tapahtui alhaisemmassa lämpötilassa kuin mitä alkuperäisellä Lewatitilla. The literature part of this thesis will look into carbon dioxide-based problems and what solutions there are to capture CO2. Direct air capture (DAC) and suitable adsorbent for DAC are examined more closely, such as carbon-based materials, zeolites, metal-organic frameworks, silica-based adsorbents, and amino-resins. Some of the current adsorbents showed over 3 mmol/g adsorption capacities in DAC conditions. Modification of resin-based adsorbent Lewatit®VP OC 1065 with tertiary amine via urea bridge will be discussed. The experimental part will concentrate on synthesis methods for commercial Lewatit®VP OC 1065 ion exchange resin. In the time frame of the thesis, it was possible to synthesize only one modification to Lewatit. This one modification showed average CO2 adsorption of 0.562 mmol/g, but desorption occurred at a lower temperature than the original Lewatit.
