Samaan aikaan yleisimm\u00e4ksi digitaalisten pelien hankintakanavaksi on noussut digitaalinen jakelu. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tavoitteena on l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4 pelien digitaaliseen jakeluun liittyv\u00e4\u00e4 tutkimusta samalla kartoittaen mit\u00e4 ja miten n\u00e4iss\u00e4 tutkimuksissa on tutkittu, l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4 n\u00e4it\u00e4 tutkimuksia yhdist\u00e4vi\u00e4 teemoja ja tunnistaa mit\u00e4 ei ole tutkittu ja mit\u00e4 olisi syyt\u00e4 tutkia enemm\u00e4n. Tutkielma on toteutettu systemaattisena kirjallisuuskartoituksena, jossa kartoitetaan aikaisemmin tehty\u00e4 tutkimusta ja muodostetaan siit\u00e4 yleiskuva sek\u00e4 t\u00e4t\u00e4 kuvaa havainnollistavat kartoitukset. Pelien digitaalisesta jakelusta on tehty varsin v\u00e4h\u00e4n tutkimusta. Vaikuttaa silt\u00e4, ett\u00e4 kiinnostus tutkia pelien digitaalista jakelua on nousussa ja tutkimuksia julkaistaan p\u00e4\u00e4osin konferensseissa. Selv\u00e4sti suosituin tutkimusteema on k\u00e4ytt\u00e4jien toiminnan tutkiminen ja yleisimpi\u00e4 tutkimusmenetelmi\u00e4 suurten datam\u00e4\u00e4rien analysointi sek\u00e4 kyselytutkimus. Lis\u00e4\u00e4 tutkimusta aiheesta kaivattaisiin l\u00e4hes joka n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta, mutta erityisesti pelien digitaalisen jakelun alustojen v\u00e4lisest\u00e4 kilpailusta, digitaalisen jakelun historiallisesta kehityksest\u00e4 sek\u00e4 siit\u00e4, miten pelien helpompi saavutettavuus on vaikuttanut pelaajiin. My\u00f6s kokonaan puuttuvien tutkimustyyppien tutkimuksille olisi tarvetta, erityisesti filosofisille julkaisuille ja kokemusjulkaisuille.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The popularity of digital games has been on the rise over the last few years and consequently the significance of the game industry has increased. At the same time digital distribution has emerged as the most common way of ac-quiring digital games. The objectives of this thesis were to find research con-cerning the digital distribution of games and to map out that research, identi-fying what and how has been researched, what are the themes in the research, what has not been studied, and what should be studied more. This thesis is carried out as a systematic mapping study that maps out earlier research to give a general view of the studied issue and mapping of studies to visualize the research area. There is relatively little research about the digital distribu-tion of games. It seems that research interest towards studying the digital dis-tribution of games is on the rise and research about it is published mainly in conferences. Clearly the most popular research theme was studying the users of the digital distribution of games, and the most common research methods were analysing large amounts of data and survey study. More research on every aspect of the topic is needed, but especially research is needed about the competition between digital distribution platforms, the historical evolution of the digital distribution of games, and how easier access to different games has affected the players of digital games.
