Kouluhyvinvoinnin pohjana k\u00e4ytettiin Konun (2002)\nkouluhyvinvoinninmallia. Lis\u00e4ksi tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 oppilaiden n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4 koulun merkityksest\u00e4 heid\u00e4n el\u00e4m\u00e4ss\u00e4\u00e4n.\nTutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena tapaustutkimuksena, jossa aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin teemahaastatteluiden avulla. Tutkimusjoukko koostui yhdeks\u00e4st\u00e4 yl\u00e4koulun erityisen ja tehostetun tuen oppilaasta. Vastaukset analysoitiin laadullisen sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin keinoin.\nOppilaat nostivat t\u00e4rkeimmiksi kouluhyvinvoinnin laadun tekij\u00f6iksi turvallisuuden, sosiaalisen yhteenkuuluvuuden ja kuulluksi tulemisen t\u00e4rkeyden.\nOpettajan kannalta parhaimmiksi keinoiksi parantaa oppilaiden kouluhyvinvointia osoittautuivat turvallisen ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n luominen, laadukas opetusty\u00f6 ja\nhenkil\u00f6kohtainen kohtaaminen. Koulu merkitsi oppilaille ennen kaikkea mahdollisuutta parempaan tulevaisuuteen. Sen lis\u00e4ksi vastauksissa nousivat esille\nniin koulun tarjoama sosiaalinen ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6 kuin koulun merkityksett\u00f6myys arjessa.\nKouluhyvinvoinnin osalta vastaukset olivat suurilta osin linjassa aiempien\ntutkimustulosten kanssa. Avarien ja valoisien tilaratkaisuiden merkitys kouluhyvinvoinnin edist\u00e4j\u00e4n\u00e4 korostui. Huolta her\u00e4tti oppilaiden v\u00e4h\u00e4inen kokemus\ntehokkaasta ryhm\u00e4ytymisest\u00e4.
