Tässä tutkielmassa syvennytään myös mahdollisiin 5G:n hyötyihin, sekä haasteisiin, joita sillä saattaa tulevaisuudessa olla. Kirjallisuuskatsauksen perusteella selviää, kuinka pilvilaskenta kehittyy sumu- tai reunalaskennaksi tulevaisuudessa, tai jopa tänä päivänä. Tämän ymmärtämiseksi, on oleellista suurin piirtein tietää, millainen on pilviradioliityntäverkon (C-RAN) arkkitehtuuri, ja millaisia heterogeeniset tietoverkot ylipäätään ovat. Tutkielman viimeinen osa kertoo multiyhteysreunalaskennan (MEC) paradigmasta, joka on useiden alueellisten foorumien ja projektien standardisointiprosessin tulos. Lisäksi, tutkielman lopussa on tehty synteesiä tutkimusprosessin tuloksista ja johtopäätöksistä. The main purpose, of this literature review, is to make an overview of cloud computing, in the fifth generation-era of telecommunications. It all starts from the definition of the abbreviation: “5G”, which is a blend of various expressions, given by several academics and notables in the business. This survey also addresses the potential benefits of 5G, and the challenges it is possibly going to face in the future. During the journey, it turns out, how cloud computing evolves into fog, or edge computing, tomorrow, or even today. To understand, what this actually stands for, it is necessary, to also take a brief survey on the architecture, of the cloud-radio-access network (C-RAN), and heterogenous networks in general. The final part of this review, is about multi-access edge computing-paradigm (MEC), which is a result of standardization progress, done by various regional forums and projects. In addition, at the end of this thesis, a synthesis has been made of conclusions and results, found in the research progress.
