Fyysisen aktiivisuuden merkityst\u00e4 vaihdevuosien aikana ei t\u00e4ysin viel\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rret\u00e4, mutta liikkumaton el\u00e4m\u00e4ntyyli voi nopeuttaa tuki- ja liikuntaelimist\u00f6n heikkenemist\u00e4 ik\u00e4\u00e4ntyess\u00e4. T\u00e4m\u00e4n pro gradu -tutkielman tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 terveiden vaihdevuosi-ik\u00e4isten naisten fyysisen aktiivisuuden ja kehonkoostumuksen yhteytt\u00e4 alaraajojen tehoon sek\u00e4 fyysisen aktiivisuuden suhdetta kehonkoostumukseen.\n\nAineisto koostui Estrogeeni, vaihdevuodet ja toimintakyky (ERMA) -tutkimuksen alkumittauksiin vuosina 2015\u20132016 osallistuneista naisista. Tutkittavista (n = 743) oli premenopausaalisia 187 (25 %), perimenopausaalisia 293 (39 %) ja postmenopausaalisia 263 (35 %) keski-i\u00e4n ollessa 52 vuotta (pituus 166 cm, paino 70 kg ja painoindeksi ollessa 25 kg/m2). Alaraajojen voimantuottotehoa tarkasteltiin kevennyshypyn avulla mitaten vertikaalista hyppykorkeutta. Fyysinen aktiivisuus mitattiin objektiivisesti GT3X+ ja wGT3X+ kiihtyvyysanturein. Kehonkoostumuksen analysointiin k\u00e4ytettiin Inbody -bioimpedanssianalyysi\u00e4. Aineiston tilastollinen analyysi suoritettiin SPSS-ohjelmalla.\n\nSuurempi alaraajojen teho oli yhteydess\u00e4 kiihtyvyysanturilla arvioituun raskaaseen ja kohtalaiseen fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen sek\u00e4 rasvattomaan kehonpainoon ja alhaisempaan rasvamassaan. Lineaarisen regressioanalyysin perusteella kevennyshyppykorkeutta selittiv\u00e4t rasvamassa (Beeta (\u03b2) = -0.6, p < .001, luottamusv\u00e4li (LV) -0.359; -0.291), rasvaton kehonmassa (\u03b2 = 0.27, p < 0.001, LV 0.173;0.275), raskas fyysinen aktiivisuus (\u03b2 = 0.09, p = 0.002, LV 0.017;0.077) ja ik\u00e4 (\u03b2 = -0.13, p < 0.001, LV -0.410; -0.154). Edell\u00e4 mainitut muuttujat selittiv\u00e4t alaraajojen tehoa yhteens\u00e4 39 %. Kehon rasvamassa korreloi positiivisesti liikkumattomanajan kanssa (r = 0.104, p = 0.005), ja negatiivisesti kaiken fyysisen aktiivisuuden kanssa (kevyt r = -0.147, p < .001, kohtalainen r = -0.093, p = 0.011, raskas r = -0.231, p < .001). Rasvaton kehonpaino ei ollut yhteydess\u00e4 fyysinen aktiivisuuteen, kohtalaisen kuormittavaa liikuntaa lukuun ottamatta (r = 0.090, p = 0.014).\n\nT\u00e4m\u00e4 tutkielma osoitti korkean rasvamassan olevan yhteydess\u00e4 alaraajojen tehoon vaihdevuosi-ik\u00e4isill\u00e4 naisilla. Vastaavasti rasvattoman kehonpainon merkitys on heikko. Fyysisen aktiivisuuden merkitys on kehonkoostumusta v\u00e4h\u00e4isempi, ja n\u00e4ytt\u00e4isi painottuvan raskaaseen, kuormittavampaan fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen. In particular, lower limb power seems to be a significant factor in coping with daily activities at a later age. The importance of physical activity during menopause is still somewhat unclear, but a sedentary lifestyle can accelerate the decline of musculoskeletal system with aging. The aim of this master's thesis was to examine the connection of physical activity, body composition on lower-body muscle power and also the association between physical activity and body composition in healthy menopausal women.\n\nThe study population consisted of women who participated in the Estrogen Regulation of Muscle Apoptosis (ERMA) -study in years 2015-2016. From the participants (n = 743) premenopausal were 187 (25 %), perimenopausal 293 (39 %) and postmenopausal 263 (35 %), with a mean age of 52 years (height 166 cm, weight 70 kg and ja body mass index (BMI) of 25 kg/m2). Lower-body muscle power was assessed using vertical jump height assessed from counter movement jump. Physical activity was measured objectively with an GT3X+ ja wGT3X+ accelerometer. Total body fat mass and fat free mass were analyzed with the use of Inbody bioelectrical impedance. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS Statistics software.\n\nHigher lower limb power was associated with fat free mass and low fat mass but also with quantity of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity. Linear regression modeling revealed that fat mass (Beta (\u03b2) = -.6, p < .001, Confidence Interval (CI) -0.359; -0.291), fat free mass (\u03b2 = -.27, p < .001, 0.173;0.275), vigorous activity (\u03b2 = .09, p = .002, 0.017;0.077), and age (\u03b2 = -.13, p < .001, CI -0.410; -0.154) were associated with jump height. The variables in question accounted for 39 % of the variability in counter movement jump height. Fat mass correlated positively with inactivity (r = 0.104, p = 0.005), and negatively with all physical activity (light r = -0.147, p < .001, moderate r = -0.093, p = 0.011, vigorous r = -0.231, p < .001). Physical activity was not associated with fat free mass with the small exception of moderate exercise (r = 0.090, p = 0.014).\n\nThis study showed total body fat mass is associated with lower muscle power of legs in menopausal women. Correspondingly, the importance of lean body weight is low. The role of physical activity on power is less than that the body composition and tends to be emphasized by heavy exercise.
