Tutkielmassa pyrit\u00e4\u00e4n vastaamaan tutkimuskysymykseen \u201dMiten sensoridataa voidaan hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 vetokaluston kunnonvalvonnassa ja ohjauksessa?\u201d. Tutkielma sis\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4 kirjallisuuskatsauksen ja empiirisen osuuden, joka toteutettiin laadullisena tapaustutkimuksena. Organisaation k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 oleva kunnonvalvontaj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4 todettiin nykytilanteessa hy\u00f6dylliseksi. Haasteet nykytilanteeseen liittyen koskivat k\u00e4ytt\u00e4jien koulutusta ja osallistamista j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n suunnitteluun, oleellisen informaation l\u00f6yt\u00e4mist\u00e4 suurista datam\u00e4\u00e4rist\u00e4, sek\u00e4 i\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4n ja toteutustavoiltaan moninaista kalustoa. Potentiaalisina hy\u00f6tyin\u00e4 kunnonvalvontaa ajatellen n\u00e4htiin kalustokokonaisuuksien hallinnan osalta toteutuneiden suoritteiden seuranta sek\u00e4 toistuvien ja tyyppivikojen havainnointi. Operatiivisen toiminnan osalta hy\u00f6tyin\u00e4 n\u00e4htiin tilannekuvan saaminen kalustosta sek\u00e4 seisontaraidesuunnittelu perustuen kaluston kuntoon. Toteutustapaa ajatellessa merkitt\u00e4vimp\u00e4n\u00e4 tekij\u00e4n\u00e4 esiin nousi eri k\u00e4ytt\u00e4j\u00e4ryhmien ja n\u00e4iden tarpeiden tunnistaminen. Operatiivisessa toiminnassa hy\u00f6dyllisimm\u00e4ksi koettiin kunnonvalvontadatan saaminen, ja sen esitt\u00e4minen oikein visualisoituna ja suodatettuna. Kalustokokonaisuuksien osalta taas t\u00e4rke\u00e4mp\u00e4n\u00e4 n\u00e4htiin tapahtumadatan esitt\u00e4minen sek\u00e4 aikasarjojen seuranta. Kuntoon perustuva kunnossapitostrategia n\u00e4htiin mahdollisena toteuttaa pienempien kalustosarjojen osalta niin, ett\u00e4 huolto-ohjelmaa optimoidaan toteutuneen k\u00e4yt\u00f6n mukaan. Lis\u00e4ksi kaluston k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 ohjattaessa vikaantumisten ennakointi koettiin hy\u00f6dylliseksi tiedoksi. Datan analysoinnin osalta oleellisimpina tekij\u00f6in\u00e4 n\u00e4htiin ratainfran hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4minen. Lis\u00e4ksi analyysiin voidaan yhdist\u00e4\u00e4 eroja kalustossa, joka suorittaa samankaltaisia teht\u00e4vi\u00e4. My\u00f6s kaluston eri osaj\u00e4rjestelmien erottaminen ja vertailu voi hy\u00f6dytt\u00e4\u00e4 datan analysointia etenkin v\u00e4\u00e4rien h\u00e4lytysten poissulkemisessa. With condition monitoring it is possible to enhance the usage of equipment, lengthen operating time and increase safety. The applications of internet of things allows equipment real time condition monitoring. Data collecting and editing produces information about the condition of the equipment to support decision making. The purpose of this thesis is to answer the research question \u201chow sensor data can be utilized in locomotive condition monitoring and dispatching?\u201d. The thesis includes a literature review and an empirical part which was carried out as a qualitative case study. The current system for condition monitoring was dis-covered useful. The challenges in the current state were related to end user training and involving in system specification, finding key information in big data, and diverse equipment regarding age and technical implementation. Potential benefits of condition monitoring regarding fleet management were related to monitoring of actual performance and finding out intermittent faults recurring defects. For operative side, the benefits were related to achieving a quick snapshot about the equipment condition and parking track planning based on the equipment condition. Major factor about a possible implementation was defining different user groups and their needs. In day of operations, the collected data should be mostly filtered and visually represented condition monitoring data. On the fleet management side, event data and the following of time series were more relevant. Condition based maintenance was seen as a possible strategy regarding the optimization of maintenance program for certain equipment types, based on actual usage. Also, the condition monitoring data was experienced useful concerning locomotive dispatching and forecasting equipment malfunctions. As to data analysis, a key thing was utilizing track data together with equipment data. The differences in equipment performing similar tasks could also be included in the analysis. Separating and comparing different subsystems in the equipment could be used in the analysis, and to exclude false alarms.
