On t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, miksi nuoret liikkuvat liian v\u00e4h\u00e4n, jotta voidaan l\u00f6yt\u00e4\u00e4 keinoja nuorten fyysisen aktiivisuuden edist\u00e4miseksi. Liikuntamotivaatiotekij\u00e4t ja liikunnan esteet voivat olla fyysist\u00e4 aktiivisuutta selitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 tekij\u00f6it\u00e4. N\u00e4it\u00e4 tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 ja niiden yhteytt\u00e4 toimintakyvyn haasteita kokevien nuorten fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen ei ole juurikaan tutkittu Suomessa tai maailmalla. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 emotionaalisia, sosiaalisia tai kognitiivisia toimintakyvyn haasteita kokevien nuorten liikuntamotivaa-tiotekij\u00f6it\u00e4, liikkumista est\u00e4vi\u00e4 tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 ja niiss\u00e4 ilmenevi\u00e4 eroja. Lis\u00e4ksi tarkoituksena on selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, onko liikuntamotivaatiotekij\u00f6ill\u00e4 ja liikkumista est\u00e4vill\u00e4 tekij\u00f6ill\u00e4 yhteytt\u00e4 nuorten fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen. \n\nTutkimuksen aineistona oli Lasten ja nuorten liikuntak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyminen Suomessa 2018 (LIITU) -tutkimuksen osa-aineisto. Osa-aineistossa oli mukana seitsem\u00e4s- ja yhdeks\u00e4sluokkalaisia emotionaalisia, sosiaalisia tai kognitiivisia toimintakyvyn haasteita kokevia nuoria (n=321). Aineiston analysoinnissa k\u00e4ytettiin IBM SPSS Statistics 24 -ohjelmaa. Analyysimenetelmin\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin ristiintaulukointia, riippumattomien otosten t-testi\u00e4, Mann Whitney\u00b4n U-testi\u00e4, khiin neli\u00f6 (\u03c72) -testi\u00e4 ja bin\u00e4\u00e4rist\u00e4 logistista regressioanalyysia.\n\nTulosten mukaan emotionaalinen oireilu oli nuorten yleisin toimintakyvyn haasteita aiheuttava tekij\u00e4. Emotionaalisen, kognitiivisen ja sosiaalisen toimintakyvyn haasteita kokevien ryhmiss\u00e4 vain noin kolmannes liikkui riitt\u00e4v\u00e4sti. Liikuntamotivaatiotekij\u00f6ist\u00e4 erityisesti ulkon\u00e4k\u00f6 ja kunto koettiin liikunnassa t\u00e4rkeiksi, jotka my\u00f6s selittiv\u00e4t sosiaalisia ja kognitiivisia haasteita kokevien fyysist\u00e4 aktiivisuutta. Lis\u00e4ksi hyv\u00e4n olon ja sosiaalisuuden sek\u00e4 harjoittelun ja kehittymisen kokeminen t\u00e4rkeiksi lis\u00e4si sosiaalisia haasteita kokevien aktiivisuutta. Liikkumista est\u00e4vist\u00e4 tekij\u00f6ist\u00e4 suurimpina estein\u00e4 olivat tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4 oman liikunnallisuuden kokemiseen liittyv\u00e4t tekij\u00e4t ja pojilla ulkoiset esteet. Liikkumista est\u00e4v\u00e4t tekij\u00e4t olivat yhteydess\u00e4 erityisesti poikien v\u00e4h\u00e4isemp\u00e4\u00e4n fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen. \n\nToimintakyvyn haasteita kokevien nuorten liikunnan edist\u00e4misess\u00e4 tulisi keskitty\u00e4 erityisesti nuorten koetun liikunnallisen p\u00e4tevyyden vahvistamiseen ja ulkoisten esteiden poistamiseen muun muassa tarjoamalla soveltuvaa lajinohjausta. Liikuntamotivaatiotekij\u00f6iden vahvistamiseen ja liikkumista est\u00e4vien tekij\u00f6iden v\u00e4hent\u00e4miseen tulisi kiinnitt\u00e4\u00e4 huomiota niin kuntien liikuntasuunnittelussa, koulujen liikunnanopetuksessa kuin urheiluseuratoiminnassa.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "Being physically active is important for young people with functional limitations because exercise can promote their physical, mental and social development. Nevertheless, young people with functional limitations do not meet the recommendations for physical activity worldwide. It is important to find out why young people are not physically active in order to find ways to promote their physical activity. Exercise motivation and barriers to physical activity might be factors that can explain it. These factors and their connection to physical activity of young people with functional limitations have not been studied much in Finland or in the world. The aim of this study was to examine the factors that motivate or hinder participation in exercise in young people with emotional, social or cognitive limitations and also to examine the association between these factors and physical activity.\n\nThe data used in this study is part of the Finnish School-aged Physical Activity (FSPA) study collected in 2018. The data included young people from 7th (13 years old) and 9th (15 years old) grade who experience emotional, social or cognitive limitations (n=321). The data was analyzed with IBM SPSS Statistics 26 software using cross-tabulation, independent t-test, Mann Whitney\u00b4s U-test, chi-square test and binary logistic regression.\n\nThe results showed that emotional symptoms were the most common cause for functional limitation. About a third of the young people with emotional, social or cognitive limitations exercised according to the exercise recommendations. Appearance and fitness in particular were considered as important motivators for exercise and were also associated to physical activity of young people with social or cognitive limitations. The most common barriers to physical activity for girls were the factors related to the perception of their own physical competence and for boys external barriers. The barriers to physical activity where associated with lower levels of physical activity especially among boys.\n\nPromoting physical activity for young people with functional limitations should focus on strengthening young people's perceived physical competence and removing external barriers for example by providing suitable organized sports activities.
