T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa selvitettiin voidaanko ns. \n\u201dkylkiuivien\u201d kalojen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4 v\u00e4hent\u00e4\u00e4 lis\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 allasveteen siirron yhteydess\u00e4\nvedenlaatua vakauttavia puskurikemikaaleja. Samalla selvitettiin my\u00f6s esiintyyk\u00f6 \nkylkiuivilla kaloilla enemm\u00e4n uimarakon poikkeamia ja onko niill\u00e4 korkeampi \nrasvapitoisuus kuin normaalisti uivilla kaloilla. Kirjolohia siirrettiin l\u00e4mpim\u00e4st\u00e4\n(14 \u2103) kiertovedest\u00e4 kylm\u00e4\u00e4n (2 \u2103) l\u00e4pivirtausveteen nelj\u00e4ksi p\u00e4iv\u00e4ksi, jonka\naikana k\u00e4sittelyaltaisiin lis\u00e4ttiin puskurikemikaaleja. Puskurik\u00e4sittelyryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 \nkylkiuivia kaloja oli 25,4% kaloista, kun kontrolliryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 n\u00e4it\u00e4 oli 46,7% kaloista. \nKylkiuivista kaloista 56,8% oli poikkeava uimarakko, kun normaalisti uivista \nkaloista n\u00e4in oli 35,1% kaloista. Uimarakoltaan poikkeavilla kaloilla havaittiin \nolevan enemm\u00e4n rasvaa ruumiinontelossa kuin kaloilla, joilla uimarakko oli \nnormaali. Puskurikemikaalien lis\u00e4ys on tulosten perusteella toimiva keino\nv\u00e4hent\u00e4\u00e4 kylkiuivien kalojen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4 siirron yhteydess\u00e4. However these transfers can lead to changes in the water quality, which \ncan potentially compromise fish health. Failure in fish\u2019s self-regulation processes\ncan manifest as buoyancy problem, like so-called \u201cside-swimming\u201d. Swimbladder\nabnormalities and high tissue fattiness may also exacerbate buoyancy issues. \nAdding buffering chemicals during transfers could potentially be beneficial for\nfish acclimation by stabilizing water quality. This study aims to find out if\nbuffering tank water could decrease number of side-swimmers after transfer. The \nother aim was to study if side-swimmers have more swimbladder abnormalities\nand if they are more fatty than normally swimming fish. The fish were trasferred \nfrom (14 \u2103) warm RAS-water to cold (2\u2103) flow-through water. In the buffered\ngroup occurrence of side-swimmers was 25,4%, while in the control group it was \n48,7%. Of these side-swimmers 56,8% had abnormal swimbladder, while \noccurrence among normally swimming fish was 35,1%. No difference in amount \nof fat was noticed between side-swimmers and normal fish. However fish with\nabnormal swimbladder had more visceral fat than fish with normal swimbladder. \nBased on these results water buffering can help fish to adapt to a new \nenvironment.
