Menetelmill\u00e4, jotka lis\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t oppilaiden motivaatiota ja el\u00e4myksellisyytt\u00e4 voidaan olettaa olevan positiivisia vaikutuksia oppimistuloksiin. Opetusmenetelmien vaikuttavuuden tutkiminen on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4, jotta voidaan arvioida niiden tehokkuutta ja mielekkyytt\u00e4 k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ss\u00e4. Tutkimuksessani selvitettiin, miten toiminnalliset opetusmenetelm\u00e4t erosivat opettajajohtoisesta opetusmenetelm\u00e4st\u00e4 oppilaiden oppimistulosten sek\u00e4 opiskelumotivaation suhteen biologian oppitunneilla. Tutkimuksessa oli mukana kaksi luokkaa, joille opetettiin kaksi kalabiologian aihetta, toinen opettajajohtoisesti ja toinen toiminnallisesti. Oppilaille tehtiin testit ennen opetusta ja sen j\u00e4lkeen sek\u00e4 mielipidekyselyt kummankin oppitunnin j\u00e4lkeen. Verrattaessa oppilaiden alku- ja lopputestin osaamista toisen luokan tuloksissa ei havaittu muutosta, toisen luokan tulos parani. Erityisesti tyt\u00f6t paransivat tuloksiaan alun- ja lopun v\u00e4lill\u00e4. Oppilaiden opiskelumotivaation osalta kyselyjen tulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa opetusmenetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4 ei ollut vaikutusta opiskelumotivaatioon. Yhteenvetona voidaan todeta, ett\u00e4 t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa tyt\u00f6t paransivat testituloksiaan poikia enemm\u00e4n ja ett\u00e4 opetusmenetelm\u00e4ll\u00e4 ei ollut merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 vaikutusta oppilaiden tiedolliseen kehitykseen tai opiskelumotivaatioon. Methods that increase student motivation and experientiality can be expected to have positive effects on learning outcomes. Efficiency of each teaching method is important to study to estimate the effectiveness and meaningfulness of different methods in practice. In this study, I examined how functional teaching methods differed from instructor-led teaching methods in terms of study motivation and learning outcomes during biology lessons. Two class participated to this study and two subjects of fish biology were taught to each class, one by using instructor-led teaching methods and the other using functional methods. Students were tested before and after teaching, as well as opinion polls after each lesson. When comparing the results, scores of pupils in the other class did not differ between the preliminary and final exams and in the other class pupils` scores improved. Especially girls improved their results between the preliminary and final examination. Regarding study motivation, the results of queries showed that in this study, the teaching method had no effect on study motivation. To conclude girls improved their test scores in comparison to boys and teaching methods did not have significant effect on the knowledge or motivation of pupils.
