Recoil-Beta Tagging) MARA-rekyylierottimen fokustasolla. In nuclear structure and properties research, one is often interested in exotic nuclei, which can, for example, be produced in fusion-evaporation reactions. In these reactions, out of all fusion products, nuclei of interest tend to be in miniscule amounts and they often exist only for a fraction of a second before decaying. Therefore, sophisticated measurement and detector systems are required in order to detect these nuclei.\n\nThe detector built in this work will be used to detect beta particles originating from nuclei residing near N=Z line at the focal plane of MARA recoil separator for recoil beta tagging. The new detector is an array of orthogonally placed scintillator bars, making it possible to measure the energy and position of a passing beta particle. Through tests, the operation and properties of the detector are presented.
