Tavoitteena oli tutkia, miten\r\npuuainesta voitaisiin hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 pienvesist\u00f6jen biologisen tilan parantamisessa ja\r\nmiten puulaji, puun tuoreus sek\u00e4 sijaintisyvyys vaikuttavat puun pinnalle\r\nmuodostuvan pohjael\u00e4imist\u00f6n runsauteen, lajim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4n ja lajikoostumukseen.\r\nKentt\u00e4koe toteutettiin mets\u00e4ojituksen laskeutusaltaissa ja se koostui kahdesta\r\nerillisest\u00e4 koej\u00e4rjestelyst\u00e4. Aktiivipyydyksill\u00e4 tutkittiin puuaineksen vaikutusta\r\nerityisesti vesipatsaassa el\u00e4viin vesiselk\u00e4rangattomiin kahden puuk\u00e4sittelyaltaan ja\r\nkahden verrokkialtaan avulla. Yhdess\u00e4 altaassa toteutetussa kokeessa selvitettiin\r\npuulajin (koivu, m\u00e4nty ja kuusi), puun tuoreuden (tuore ja vuosi sitten kaadettu) ja\r\nsijoitussyvyyden (5 ja 45 cm) sek\u00e4 puupintojen biofilmin vaikutuksia\r\npohjael\u00e4imist\u00f6\u00f6n. Altaiden v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei havaittu puuk\u00e4sittelyst\u00e4 johtuvia eroja\r\nvesiselk\u00e4rangatonyhteis\u00f6iss\u00e4. In this thesis, I examined if wood material could be used\r\nto improve the biological state of small water bodies, and how the tree species and\r\nplacement depth as well as freshness of the wood affect the abundance, species\r\ncomposition and number of benthic animals on wood surfaces. The field experiment was carried out in pools of forest drainage areas and it consisted of two separate test arrangements. Activity traps were used to study the effect of wood on the invertebrates living in a water column by comparing two wood treatment pools and two control pools. In the experiment, which was implemented in one pool explored tree species (birch, pine and spruce), freshness of wood (fresh and a year ago overthrown) and placement depth (5 and 45 cm) as well as the amount of biofilm on the wood surfaces. The invertebrate communities between pools did not differ from each other due to wood treatment. However, the study showed that coniferous wood maintained a more species-rich and abundant benthic animal community than birch. In addition, the placement of wood in the photosynthetic zone of the water column enabled the development of more diverse and abundant benthic animal communities.
