Kuormitus on elimist\u00f6\u00f6n kohdistuva stressitekij\u00e4, joka saa aikaan muutoksia sen toiminnassa. Kuormitus voidaan jakaa teoreettisesti ulkoiseen ja sis\u00e4iseen kuormitukseen. Ulkoinen kuormitus tarkoittaa ulkoisesti havaittavia asioita, eli dynaamisessa liikkeess\u00e4 ty\u00f6t\u00e4 ja tehoa. Sis\u00e4inen kuormitus tarkoittaa elimist\u00f6n vastetta ulkoiseen kuormitukseen, joka on aina kuormitusspesifi\u00e4 sek\u00e4 yksil\u00f6llist\u00e4. Erityisesti sis\u00e4inen kuormitus on hyvin monitahoinen asia, jonka mittaaminen on joissain tapauksissa haastavaa. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 sis\u00e4isen ja ulkoisen kuormituksen yhteyksi\u00e4 sek\u00e4 tutkia sis\u00e4isen kuormituksen mittaamismenetelmi\u00e4 j\u00e4\u00e4kiekon peleiss\u00e4.\n\nMenetelm\u00e4t. Ulkoista kuormitusta mitattiin l\u00e4hipaikannusj\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4n avulla. Ulkoisen kuormituksen muuttujia olivat kokonaismatka, matka eri nopeusalueilla sek\u00e4 kiihdytysten ja jarrutusten m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 eri intensiteettialueilla. Kaikkia ulkoisen kuormituksen muuttujia tutkittiin my\u00f6s peliaikaan suhteutettuna. Sis\u00e4ist\u00e4 subjektiivista kuormitusta mitattiin pelaajan itse antamalla arviolla Borgin muokatun asteikon (1\u201310) eli session-RPE:n (sRPE) sek\u00e4 peliajalla kerrotun session-RPE-training load:n (sRPE-TL) ja objektiivista kuormitusta erilaisten sykemuuttujien, kuten TRIMP:n eli sykkeen avulla mitatun rasituskertym\u00e4n perusteella. Tutkimukseen osallistui yksi suomalaisen j\u00e4\u00e4kiekon p\u00e4\u00e4sarjan eli Liigan joukkue. Tutkittavia oli yhteens\u00e4 25. Tutkimus toteutettiin mittaamalla sis\u00e4ist\u00e4 ja ulkoista kuormitusta yhden kauden, eli yhteens\u00e4 59 SM-liigapelin osalta.\n\nTulokset. Ulkoinen kuormitus vastasi suurimmaksi osaksi kansainv\u00e4lisen maajoukkuetason ja NHL:n pelien ulkoista kuormitusta. Sis\u00e4isen kuormituksen mittaamismenetelm\u00e4t olivat yhteydess\u00e4 toisiinsa kohtalaisesti tai melko vahvasti (sRPE vs. TRIMP: r = 0,44; p < 0,001; sRPE-TL vs. TRIMP r = 0,60; p < 0,001), mutta heikommin kuin muissa joukkuepalloilulajeissa aikaisemmissa tutkimuksissa. Subjektiivinen arvio kuormittumisesta oli johdonmukaisemmin ja vahvemmin yhteydess\u00e4 eri ulkoisen kuormituksen muuttujiin (sRPE-TL vs. matka: r = 0,86; p < 0,001; TRIMP vs. matka: r = 0,45; p < 0,001). Kuormituksen korkeaa intensiteetti\u00e4 kuvaaviin muuttujiin oli vahvimmin yhteydess\u00e4 subjektiivinen arvio kuormittumisesta (sRPE vs. nopeusalue 5\u20136: r = 0,52; p < 0,01; TRIMP/min vs. nopeusalue 5\u20136: r = 0,34; p < 0,01). Sykemuuttujat olivat p\u00e4\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6isesti yhteydess\u00e4 ulkoisen kuormituksen matalaa intensiteetti\u00e4 kuvaaviin muuttujiin.\n\nPohdinta ja johtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6kset. J\u00e4\u00e4kiekon ulkoinen kuormitus on hyvin intervalliluonteista ja korkean intensiteetin suhteellinen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 on suuri. Korkeaintensiteettiset suoritukset ovat p\u00e4\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6isesti my\u00f6s lyhytkestoisia. Mahdollisesti n\u00e4ist\u00e4 syist\u00e4 syke ei vaikuttanut olevan yht\u00e4 hyv\u00e4 sis\u00e4isen kuormituksen mittari, kuin muissa joukkuepalloilulajeissa ja aikaisemmissa tutkimuksissa on havaittu. Training load is a stressor that causes changes in the body\u2019s homeostasis. Training load can be theoretically divided into external and internal load. External training load means externally visible things, i.e. work and power in dynamic motion. Internal training load refers to the body\u2019s response to the external training load, which is always training load specific as well as individual. Internal load in particular is a complex issue and measuring it is challenging in some cases. The purpose of this study was to find out the connections between internal and external training load and to study the methods of measuring them in ice-hockey games.\n\nMethods. External training load was measured using local positioning system. The variables of the external load were the total distance, the distance in different speeds, and the number of accelerations and decelerations with different intensities. All external training load variables were also analysed in relation to playing time. Internal subjective training load was measured using sRPE and sRPE-TL. Internal objective training load was analysed with different heart rate variables, such as TRIMP. One team from the Finnish ice hockey main series, the League, participated in the study. There were a total of 25 subjects. The study was carried out by measuring internal and external training load for one season, i.e. total of 59 games.\n\nResults. The external training load of this study corresponded to the external training load of previous international and NHL games. Session-RPE and heart rate based measurements were moderately correlated and weaker than in the previous studies (sRPE vs. TRIMP: r = 0.44; p < 0.001; sRPE-TL vs. TRIMP: r = 0.60; p < 0.001). Session-RPE correlated more consistently and more strongly with different external training load variables (sRPE-TL vs. total distance: r = 0.86; p < 0.001; TRIMP vs. total distance: r = 0.45; p < 0.001). The variables associated with the high intensity external training load correlated most strongly with sRPE and sRPE-TL (sRPE vs. high-intensity distance: r = 0.52; p < 0.01; TRIMP/min vs. high-intensity distance: r = 0.34; p < 0.01. Heart rate variables correlated mainly to variables associated with the low intensity of external training load.\n\nDiscussion and conclusion. The external training load and the nature of ice hockey is very high intensity and intermittent. The high intensity bursts are also usually very short compared to other team sports. Maybe because of these reasons, heart rate derived variables did not appear to be as good measures of internal training load as has been observed in previous studies and in other team sports.
