Lisa\u0308ksi tutkimme, onko tyo\u0308n intensifikaatio yhteydessa\u0308 kognitiiviseen stressiin seka\u0308 muuntaako resilienssi ta\u0308ta\u0308 mahdollista yhteytta\u0308. Tutkimuksen teoreettisena viitekehyksena\u0308 ka\u0308ytettiin alttius-reaktiivisuusmallia, jolla kuvataan persoonallisuuden, tyo\u0308olosuhteiden ja tyo\u0308hyvinvoinnin va\u0308lisia\u0308 yhteyksia\u0308. Tutkimuksen aineisto kera\u0308ttiin vuoden 2019 syksylla\u0308 e-kyselylla\u0308 Journalistiliitosta osana Media Work 2030 -tutkimushanketta, jonka kohdejoukkona olivat suomalaiset media-alan tyo\u0308ntekija\u0308t. Tutkimuksen otoskooksi muodostui 979 ja vastausprosentiksi 7,4 %. Muuttujien va\u0308lisia\u0308 yhteyksia\u0308 tarkasteltiin Pearsonin ja Spearmanin korrelaatiokertoimien avulla ja varsinaisiin tutkimuskysymyksiin ka\u0308ytettiin hierarkkista regressioanalyysia. Tulokset osoittivat, etta\u0308 media-alan tyo\u0308ntekijo\u0308iden resilienssi oli negatiivisesti yhteydessa\u0308 tyo\u0308n intensifikaation kokonaiskokemukseen ja tyo\u0308n intensifikaation urasuunnittelun vaatimusten osa-alueeseen. Osallistujat kokivat paljon tyo\u0308n intensifikaatiota, jonka puolestaan havaitsimme olevan osa-alueineen positiivisesti yhteydessa\u0308 kognitiivisen stressin kokemiseen. Myo\u0308s resilienssi oli yhteydessa\u0308 kognitiivisen stressin kokemiseen. Resilienssi muunsi tyo\u0308n intensifikaation kokonaiskokemuksen ja kognitiivisen stressin va\u0308lista\u0308 yhteytta\u0308 siten, etta\u0308 yhteys oli voimakkaampi va\u0308hemma\u0308n resilienteilla\u0308 tyo\u0308ntekijo\u0308illa\u0308 verrattuna niihin tyo\u0308ntekijo\u0308ihin, joilla resilienssi oli korkea. Tyo\u0308n intensifikaation osa-alueittain tehdyissa\u0308 tarkasteluissa resilienssin muuntavaa vaikutusta ei havaittu. Yhteenvetona voidaan todeta, etta\u0308 media-alan tyo\u0308ntekijo\u0308iden kokema tyo\u0308n intensifikaatio toimii riskitekija\u0308na\u0308 kognitiivisen stressin kokemiselle. Na\u0308in ollen mediaorganisaatioiden olisi suositeltavaa tyo\u0308ntekijo\u0308iden tyo\u0308hyvinvoinnin edista\u0308miseksi pyrkia\u0308 huomioimaan tyo\u0308n intensifikaatio tyo\u0308tehta\u0308vien ja -olosuhteiden suunnittelussa seka\u0308 pita\u0308a\u0308 tyo\u0308n vaatimukset kohtuullisina. Resilienssi puolestaan vaikuttaisi suojaavan tyo\u0308ntekija\u0308a\u0308 seka\u0308 tyo\u0308n intensifikaation kokemiselta etta\u0308 siihen yhteydessa\u0308 olevalta kognitiiviselta stressilta\u0308. Tyo\u0308ntekijo\u0308iden resilienssin tukeminen voisi olla media-alalla hyo\u0308dyllista\u0308. Tutkimuksemme perusteella resilienssi ei kuitenkaan yksina\u0308a\u0308n riita\u0308 selitta\u0308ma\u0308a\u0308n tyo\u0308n intensifikaation kokemisen voimakkuutta ja puskuroimaan sen kognitiivisia haittavaikutuksia. We also examined whether intensified job demands are related to cognitive stress and whether resilience moderates this connection. The differential exposure-reactivity model was used as a theoretical framework to describe the connections between personality, working conditions and occupational well-being. The data was collected using an online survey as part of the Media Work 2030 -research project in the autumn of 2019. The target group of the study were Finnish media workers, who were members of the Union of Journalists in Finland. All together 7,4 % percent of the subjects responded to the questionnaire making the final sample 979. Data was analyzed using Pearson\u2019s and Spearman\u2019s correlation coefficients for the descriptive statistics and hierarchical regression analyses for the actual research questions. The findings show that resilience among media workers was negatively related to the overall experience of intensified job demands and to the career-related planning and decision-making demands subscale. The participants experienced significant amounts of intensified job demands, which in turn was positively related to the amount of cognitive stress they experienced. Resilience was also related to the experience of cognitive stress. Resilience moderated the connection between the overall experience of intensified job demands and cognitive stress. The connection was stronger among less resilient employees compared to those with higher resilience. The analysis of the intensified job demands subscales did not show moderation effect. Based on the results we can conclude that intensified job demands can be a risk factor for\nexperiencing cognitive stress. Therefore, media organizations should consider the negative effects of intensified job demands on employee well-being and take them into account when organizing the workload and working conditions. The amount of job demands should also stay reasonable. Resilience, on the other hand, seems to protect employees both from experiencing intensified job demands and cognitive stress. Thus, reinforcing employee resilience in the media industry could be helpful. However, this study points out that resilience itself is not sufficient to protect employees from experiencing intensified job demands and their negative cognitive effects.
