Aineistona k\u00e4ytettiin Ylioppilaiden terveydenhoitos\u00e4\u00e4ti\u00f6n (YTHS) vuoden 2016 korkeakouluopiskelijoiden terveystutkimuksen aineistoa. Aineisto koostui yhteens\u00e4 3114 opiskelijasta, joista t\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen aineistoon kuuluivat 1231. Sosiaalista p\u00e4\u00e4omaa tarkasteltiin sosiaalista tukea, yhteenkuuluvuutta ja sosiaalista aktiivisuutta k\u00e4sittelevien kysymysten ja v\u00e4itt\u00e4mien avulla. Ruokak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymist\u00e4 puolestaan terveytt\u00e4 edist\u00e4v\u00e4n ruokavalion toteutumisella. Aineistoa analysoitiin ristiintaulukoinnilla, \u03c7\u00b2-testill\u00e4 sek\u00e4 kahden riippumattoman otoksen t-testill\u00e4.\nTulokset osoittivat aiempien tutkimusten kaltaisesti, ett\u00e4 on viitteit\u00e4 sosiaalisen p\u00e4\u00e4oman ja ruokak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisen v\u00e4lisest\u00e4 yhteydest\u00e4, vahvemman sosiaalisen p\u00e4\u00e4oman omaavilla n\u00e4ytt\u00e4isi olevan my\u00f6s terveellisempi ruokavalio. Sosiaalisen p\u00e4\u00e4oman kaikki komponentit (sosiaalinen tuki, yhteenkuuluvuus ja sosiaalinen aktiivisuus) olivat tulosten mukaan yhteydess\u00e4 ruokak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymiseen koko aineistossa. Kun tarkasteltiin sosiaalisen p\u00e4\u00e4oman yhteytt\u00e4 ruokak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymiseen sukupuoli- ja koulutussektoreittain, yhteytt\u00e4 l\u00f6ydettiin naisilla, miehill\u00e4 ja yliopisto-opiskelijoilla. My\u00f6s sukupuolella ja korkeakoulusektorilla oli yhteys ruokak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymiseen, naiset ja yliopisto-opiskelijat s\u00f6iv\u00e4t terveellisemmin kuin miehet ja AMK-opiskelijat.\nLis\u00e4\u00e4 tutkimuksia tarvitaan ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n sosiaalisen p\u00e4\u00e4oman ja ruokak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisen v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 yhteyksi\u00e4 paremmin, mutta ilmi\u00f6t\u00e4 olisi hyv\u00e4 ottaa huomioon, kun suunnitellaan interventioita suomalaisten korkeakouluopiskelijoiden ruokak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymisen parantamiseksi. The\nFinnish Student Health Service\u2019s (FSHS) material from the 2016 Finnish Student Health Survey\nwas used as research material for this study. The whole material consisted of 3114 students and\nthe material for this study was a total of 1231 students. Social capital was investigated with\nquestions and statements dealing with social support, social belonging and social activity. Food\nbehaviour on the other hand was investigated by how well the students fulfilled a health\npromoting diet. The material was analysed wit crosstabs, \u03c7\u00b2-test and independent samples t-test.\nThe results showed similarly to previous research that there seems to be a relation between\nsocial capital and food behavior. Stronger social capital seems to be related to a healthier diet.\nWhen looking at the whole material for this research all components of social capital (social\nsupport, sense of belonging and social activity) had a relation with food behaviour. When the\nrelations where examined separately by gender and student-sector the results showed that\nrelations where only found for women, men and university-students. Also gender and studentsector where related to food behaviour. Women and university students had a healthier diet than\nmen and students from universities of applied sciences.\nMore research is needed to examine these relationships further, but this phenomenon would be\ngood to take into consideration when planning interventions for improving Finnish students\u2019\ndiet.
