Google-hakukone omaa markkinoilla dominoivan aseman ja siksi ha- kukoneoptimoinnin toimet sijoitetaan juuri tämän hakukoneen piiriin. Tässä tutkielmassa kartoitetaan Googlen hakukoneen toiminta ja käydään läpi mahdollisimman kattavasti yrityksen verkkosivulla tehtävät toimet, jotka vaikutta- vat sivun sijoitukseen hakutuloksissa. Hakukoneoptimointi liitetään uusasiakashankinnan kontekstiin ja lopuksi tutkielmassa nostetaan esiin konkreettiset höydyt, mitä yritys voi hyvin tehdyllä hakukoneoptimoinnilla saavuttaa uusasiakashankinnassaan. Hakukoneoptimoinnin suurin hyöty uusasiakashankinnassa on kävijäliikenteen kasvattaminen yritysten sivuilla. Kasvaneen kävijäliikenteen hyödyt näkyvät positiivisesi markkinaosuuden, bränditietoisuuden ja uusien asiakkaiden ostotaipumuksen kasvussa. Tämän lisäksi havaittuja etuja olivat muun muassa kustannustehokkuus, vierailijoiden laatu prospektoinnin näkökulmasta ja helppo tulosten mittaaminen. Tutkimus toteutettiin kirjallisuuskatsauksena. Search Engine optimization has been one of the most crucial way to reach visibility in the field of digital marketing in 21st. century especially in acquisition of new customers. There are only few researches made from this topic, even though at the same time business in search engine markets has expanded to a billion-dollar industry. Also, the concrete benefits of the search engine optimization in acquisition of new customers have been well known. Google has dom- inant position in search engine markets and that is the reason why almost all optimization tasks are made for this search engine. This thesis goes through the technology of a Google’s search engine and tells inclusive tasks that corporate should do for successful search engine optimization in the field of acquisition of new customers. Thesis also summarizes the benefits of search engine optimization. Increased traffic on website is the biggest benefit in search engine optimization. Other benefits are cost-effectivity, quality of arriving customers and easy measurement of results. This thesis was produced as a literature review.
