T\u00e4m\u00e4 koskee my\u00f6s varhaista kieltenopetusta (i\u00e4t 6-9), jonka piiriss\u00e4 pelit ja leikit ovat t\u00e4rkeimpien opetusmetodien joukossa. Varhainen kieltenopetus on kokenut yhden opetuskent\u00e4n suurimmista muutoksista viimeisen vuosikymmenen aikana, kun Sipil\u00e4n hallituksen lanseeraaman k\u00e4rkihankkeen my\u00f6t\u00e4 A1-kielen opetus siirtyi alkamaan jo perusopetuksen ensimm\u00e4isell\u00e4 vuosiluokalla. Varhaisen kielenopetuksen opettajilla on suuri vastuu opetuksen suunnittelussa, ja suunnitteluprosessissa my\u00f6s digitaalisten pelien opetusk\u00e4ytt\u00f6 on t\u00e4rke\u00e4 valinta. T\u00e4m\u00e4 pro gradu - tutkielma kysyykin, miten digitaalisia pelej\u00e4 k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n varhennetussa kieltenopetuksessa, mitk\u00e4 ovat niiden hy\u00f6dyt opettajien n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta, ja mit\u00e4 haasteita opettajat n\u00e4kev\u00e4t niiden k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4. Tutkimuksen teoreettinen tausta on kaksijakoinen: ensimm\u00e4isen\u00e4 tarkastellaan pelien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4 opetuksessa, sen aiemmin tunnistettuja hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4 sek\u00e4 opettajien n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4 aiheesta, jonka j\u00e4lkeen varhennetun kielenopetuksen luonteeseen, opettajiin ja metodeihin tutustutaan tarkemmin.\nAihetta tarkasteltiin kyselytutkimuksen keinoin. Varhennetun kieltenopetuksen k\u00e4rkihankkeen osana toimivien projektien opettajilta kysyttiin tutkimuksessa digitaalisten pelien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6tavoista opetuksessa, heid\u00e4n n\u00e4kemyksist\u00e4\u00e4n niiden hy\u00f6dyist\u00e4 sek\u00e4 mahdollisista haasteista. Kyselyn tulokset analysoitiin kuvailevan sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin keinoin.\nNoin puolet opettajista k\u00e4ytti digitaalisia pelej\u00e4 omassa varhaisessa kieltenopetuksessaan. Pelej\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin erityisesti toistoon, oppilaiden motivointiin sek\u00e4 opittavan asian eriytt\u00e4miseen. Opettajien n\u00e4kemyksen mukaan digitaalisten pelien suurimmat hy\u00f6dyt olivat pelien tuoma vaihtelu opetusmetodeihin, niiden synnytt\u00e4m\u00e4 innostus ja hauskuus oppimiseen sek\u00e4 oppilaiden kokema motivaatio. T\u00e4rkeimpi\u00e4 haasteita pelien k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 oli sopivien pelien puute sek\u00e4 tieto niiden k\u00e4yt\u00f6st\u00e4, opettajien saatavilla oleva riitt\u00e4m\u00e4t\u00f6n m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 digitaalisia laitteita sek\u00e4 rajatun opetusajan tuomat haasteet.\nTutkimuksen tuloksia voidaan hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 esimerkiksi pelipohjaisen pedagogiikan sek\u00e4 oppimispelien suunnittelussa.
