Voimaharjoittelun tiedet\u00e4\u00e4n edist\u00e4v\u00e4n juoksun taloudellisuutta ja kest\u00e4vyyssuorituskyky\u00e4, mutta lihasvaurioita aiheuttava voimaharjoitus saattaa akuutisti heikent\u00e4\u00e4 juoksusuoritusta. Tutkimuksissa on kuitenkin havaittu, ett\u00e4 samanlaisen harjoituksen toistuessa haitalliset vaikutukset lievenev\u00e4t, mik\u00e4 perustuu palautumisen aikana kehossa tapahtuviin hermostollisiin, rakenteellisiin ja biokemiallisiin adaptaatioihin. T\u00e4st\u00e4 ilmi\u00f6st\u00e4 k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n termi\u00e4 repeated bout effect (RBE, toistoharjoitusvaikutus). Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 hypertrofisen ja hermostollisen voimaharjoituksen vaikutuksia kaksi vuorokautta my\u00f6hemmin teht\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4n kest\u00e4vyysjuoksusuoritukseen sek\u00e4 selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 muuttuvatko akuutit vaikutukset juoksun taloudellisuuteen ja suorituskykyyn voimaharjoittelua toistettaessa. Menetelm\u00e4t. 12 kest\u00e4vyyskuntoilijaa jaettiin hypertrofiseen (HYP) ja hermostolliseen (HER) voimaharjoitusryhm\u00e4\u00e4n. 4 viikon aikana tehtiin 4 kest\u00e4vyysjuoksutesti\u00e4. Ensimm\u00e4inen testi oli kontrollitesti ilman voimaharjoitusta. 2 vrk ennen seuraavia kest\u00e4vyystestej\u00e4 tehtiin hypertrofinen tai hermostollinen voimaharjoitus. Ennen jokaista kest\u00e4vyystesti\u00e4 tehtiin ep\u00e4suorat lihasvauriotestit. Kest\u00e4vyystestiss\u00e4 juostiin 10 min 90 % vauhdilla anaerobisesta kynnysvauhdista ja sen j\u00e4lkeen 10 min anaerobisella kynnysvauhdilla, joiden j\u00e4lkeen vauhti nousi 1 km/h minuutin v\u00e4lein uupumukseen asti. Juoksun aikana mitattiin hapenkulutusta, sykett\u00e4, koettua kuormittuneisuutta, hengitysosam\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4, laktaattipitoisuutta, maksimivauhtia ja uupumukseen kulunutta aikaa. Voimaharjoittelun aiheuttamaa lihasarkuutta arvioitiin visuaalisen skaalan avulla (VAS). Tutkimuksessa vertailtiin voimaharjoitusten akuutteja vaikutuksia sek\u00e4 toistoharjoitusvaikutusta juoksun taloudellisuuteen ja maksimisuorituskykyyn. Tilastolliset analyysit tehtiin IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0 -ohjelmalla. Tulokset. Kun vertailtiin tuloksia kontrollitestin ja ensimm\u00e4isen voimaharjoituksen j\u00e4lkeisen testin kesken, ei juoksun taloudellisuudessa tai maksimaalisessa kest\u00e4vyyssuorituskyvyss\u00e4 havaittu muutoksia, vaikka HYP-ryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 koettu lihasarkuus oli suurta. Juoksun taloudellisuus parantui HYP-ryhm\u00e4ll\u00e4 kertojen 1 ja 3 v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ja palautui l\u00e4hemm\u00e4ksi kontrollitasoa, viitaten toistoharjoitusvaikutukseen. HER-ryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 laktaatti anaerobisella kynnyksell\u00e4 laski testijakson aikana. Molemmissa ryhmiss\u00e4 uupumukseen kulunut aika parantui ja HERryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 parannus oli merkitt\u00e4v\u00e4mp\u00e4\u00e4. HER-ryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 saavutettu hapenotto ja laktaatti parantuivat testijakson aikana. HYP-ryhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 saavutettu hapenotto laski testikertaan 2 asti. Johtop\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6kset. Strength training is known to have beneficial effects to running economy and endurance performance. Even though muscle damaging strength exercise may acutely impair running performance, there is evidence that repeating strength session later may decrease the negative effects to next endurance running session, which is explained by neural, morphological and biochemical adaptations. This phenomenon is called repeated bout effect (RBE). The purpose of this study was to research acute effects of hypertrophic or neural strength exercises to subsequent endurance performance 2 days later. In addition the aim was to investigate possible repeated bout effect of strength sessions to running economy and maximal performance during three bouts. Methods. In total 12 participants, divided to hypertrophic (HYP) and neural (HER) groups took part to the study. During 4 weeks participants managed 4 endurance performance tests. The first endurance test was a control test without prior strength session and the next 3 test was performed 2 days after strength session (bouts 1, 2, 3), with one week between the bouts. Immediately before each endurance test indirect muscle damage markers were measured. Endurance test consisted of running 10 min at 90 % of anaerobic threshold, 10 min at anaerobic threshold and then until exhaustion increasing the speed 1 km/h every minute. During the running test oxygen consumption, heart rate, rate of perceived exertion, RER, lactate, maximal speed and time to exhaustion were measured. Subjective muscle soreness was asked using visual analogue scale (VAS 0-100%). The acute effects and repeated bout effect of two different type of strength sessions to running economy factors and maximal performance factors were analyzed and IBM SPSS Statistics 26.0 \u2013programs was used to statistical analyses. Results. There was not acute effects of strength exercises to running economy or endurance performance, but in HYP-group the subjective muscle soreness was very significant after the first strength session. Running economy enhanced in HYP-group between the bouts 1 and 3 and came back toward control values, indicating RBE. In HER-group, lactate at anaerobic threshold lowered during testing period. Both groups enhanced time to exhaustion, but in HER-group the enhancement was greater. Achieved VO2max and LAmax enhanced in HER-group during the testing period. In contrast, VO2max decreased in HYP-group until the bout 2. Conclusions. Neural strength training seems to be more safe way to ensure good quality of subsequent endurance running session and to verify long time development of endurance properties, if that is the main goal.
