Eurochambersin tuoreen tutkimuksen mukaan, suomalaiset yritykset eiv\u00e4t osaa hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 EU:n ulkopuolisten maiden kanssa tehtyj\u00e4 kauppasopimuksia. Lis\u00e4ksi kauppasopimusten suorista vaikutuksista yritysten markkinavalintaan on toistaiseksi vain rajallinen m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 tutkimustietoa. Casena tutkimuksessa hy\u00f6dynnet\u00e4\u00e4n EU:n ja Mercosurin v\u00e4list\u00e4 tuoretta vapaakauppasopimusta. Tavoitteena on tarkastella, kannustaako kauppasopimus yrityksi\u00e4 uusille markkinoille, kuten EU tavoitteli. Empiria on ker\u00e4tty seitsem\u00e4st\u00e4 puhelinhaastattelusta ja kolmesta kirjallisesta haastattelusta kvalitatiivisia metodeja hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4en. Tutkimus on rajattu suomalaisiin yrityksiin, jotka k\u00e4yv\u00e4t kauppaa Espanjassa, Portugalissa tai Etel\u00e4-Amerikassa. Semi-strukturoidut haastattelut pyrkiv\u00e4t selvitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n vaikuttaako uusi kauppasopimus heid\u00e4n liiketoimintaansa. Teoreettisessa viitekehyksess\u00e4 pureudutaan puolestaan yleisell\u00e4 tasolla yritysten kansainv\u00e4listymiseen, strategiaan, kansainv\u00e4liseen kauppaan ja kauppasopi- muksiin. My\u00f6s kansainv\u00e4listymisen ja kansainv\u00e4lisen kaupan teoreettisia malleja tutkitaan osana viitekehyst\u00e4. Koska tutkimus keskittyy makrotalouteen ja yrityksiin vaikuttaviin ulkoisiin tekij\u00f6ihin, yritysten sis\u00e4ist\u00e4 valmiutta tai itse kansainv\u00e4listymisen toteuttamista ei juurikaan tutkita t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa. Tulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 EU-Mercosur sopimuksesta voi olla merkitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4 suomalaisyrityksille, vaikka se ei onnistu poistamaan kaikkia kaupanteon esteit\u00e4. Sopimus voi toimia kuitenkin kipin\u00e4n\u00e4, joka rohkaisee yrityksi\u00e4 harkitsemaan uusien markkinoiden potentiaalisuutta. N\u00e4in ollen jatkotutkimuksissa voidaan selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, tulisiko yrityksi\u00e4 tukea oikeiden kontaktien l\u00f6yt\u00e4misess\u00e4 ja n\u00e4in lis\u00e4t\u00e4 my\u00f6s tietoisuutta kauppasopimuksista. As a recent study by Eurochambers shows, Finnish companies struggle to utilize the trade agreements the EU has with non-EU countries. Furthermore, there seems to be limited amount of research on the direct impact of trade agreements on market selection process of companies, despite the multiple studies made about market entry. Thus, this study aims to research the impact of a changing trade agreement on companies\u2019 market selection by using the new EU-Mercosur FTA as a case agreement. The aim is to clarify if the FTA encourages companies to new markets, like aimed. The empirical data is gathered from seven semi-structured phone interviews and three written interviews by using qualitative methods. The research is limited to Finnish companies that trade in Spain, Portugal or South America. The SSIs aim to review the attitudes and behaviour of the case companies operating at the targeted markets and study if the changing trade agreement would influence their trading. To tackle the research question, internationalization, strategy, international trade, and trade agreements are studied in the theoretical framework. Also, models and tools for analysing market selection and international trade are offered. As the focus is on macro-economics and external factors affecting business, companies\u2019 internal readiness or how companies execute the internationalization process is left out from this research. The findings show that there are significant benefits for Finnish companies due the new FTA but it cannot eliminate all of the barriers to trade. Nevertheless, it seems that the change in institutional conditions may encourage companies to consider the potentiality of new markets in the first place. However, it remains for future studies to research on a company level the company specific differences and other aspects of international trade.
