Ilmi\u00f6 on huomioitu uudessa opetussuunnitelmassa, jossa todetaan, ett\u00e4 nuorten informaali oppiminen vapaa-ajalla tulee ottaa huomioon opetuksen sis\u00e4lt\u00f6j\u00e4 suunnitellessa. Lis\u00e4ksi opetussuunnitelmassa painotetaan kommunikatiivista l\u00e4hestymistapaa kielten opetuksessa ja t\u00e4m\u00e4 tulisi huomioida my\u00f6s \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4misen opettamisessa. Vaikka \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4mist\u00e4 ja sen opettamista on tutkittu Suomessa jonkin verran, on oppimateriaalien suhde \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4miseen j\u00e4\u00e4nyt v\u00e4h\u00e4lle huomiolle. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa keskityttiinkin nimenoman digitaalisiin oppimateriaaleihin, sill\u00e4 teknologian kehityksen my\u00f6t\u00e4 ne ovat saaneet jalansijaa kouluissa.\n\nT\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoitus oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 englannin digioppimateriaalien rooli yhdeks\u00e4sluokkalaisten englannin \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4misen harjoittelussa. Lis\u00e4ksi t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa haluttiin saada selville, millainen rooli muilla vapaa-ajan resursseilla (sovellukset, pelit, musiikki, suoratoistopalvelut, pikaviestinpalvelut, videot, sosiaalinen media) on englannin \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4misen oppimisessa ja miksi ne ovat oppilaille hy\u00f6dyllisi\u00e4 keinoja oppia. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa p\u00e4\u00e4paino oli nimenomaan oppilaiden omissa mielipiteiss\u00e4 ja n\u00e4kemyksiss\u00e4, sill\u00e4 oppilaiden omaa n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmaa heille hy\u00f6dyllisist\u00e4 \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4misen keinoista ei ole huomioitu aiempia tutkimuksia tehdess\u00e4. \n\nTutkimukseen osallistui 41 oppilasta: yksi luokka oli Keski-Suomesta ja toinen Etel\u00e4-Karjalasta. Tutkimus toteutettiin kyselytutkimuksena, jossa oli sek\u00e4 suljettuja, ett\u00e4 avoimia kysymyksi\u00e4 liittyen digimateriaalien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n ja niiden rooliin \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4misen harjoittelussa. Lis\u00e4ksi kyselyss\u00e4 oli kysymyksi\u00e4 liittyen toiseen p\u00e4\u00e4teemaan, eli muihin vapaa-ajan resursseihin ja niiden rooliin \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4misen harjoittelussa. Kysely toteutettiin helmikuussa 2020.\n\nTuloksista selvisi, ett\u00e4 digimateriaaleja k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n nykyp\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 osana englannin opetusta, mutta \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4misen opetteluun oppilaat eiv\u00e4t k\u00e4yt\u00e4 materiaaleja suurissa m\u00e4\u00e4rin. Vapaa-ajan resurssit sit\u00e4 vastoin osoittautuivat oppilaille hy\u00f6dyllisiksi keinoiksi oppia \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4mist\u00e4. T\u00e4rkeimpi\u00e4 ominaisuuksia sek\u00e4 digimateriaaleissa- ett\u00e4 muissa resursseissa olivat malli\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4misen kuuleminen ja niiden k\u00e4ytett\u00e4vyys vapaasti ajasta ja paikasta riippumatta. Kielen oppimiseen tarkoitetut sovellukset eiv\u00e4t olleet suosittuja, vaan \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4mist\u00e4 opittiin parhaiten sosiaalisen median, pelien, suoratoistopalveluiden ja videoiden kautta omien kiinnostuksen kohteiden mukaan.\n\nTulokset antavat tietoa siit\u00e4, miten nykyp\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 yl\u00e4asteik\u00e4iset oppivat englannin \u00e4\u00e4nt\u00e4mist\u00e4 usein eri keinoin.
