Itse tutkimus, sekä keskeiset tutkimuskysymykset tähtäävät tunnistamaan eri koetut ja huomatut tekijät, jotka ovat vaikuttaneet kansainvälisten työntekijöiden sopeutumiseen molemmissa konteksteissa. Myös kansainvälisten työntekijöiden käsityksiä ja kokemuksia espanjan kielen oppimisesta, sujuvuudesta sekä suhteesta heidän omaan sopeutumiseensa tutkittiin. Tämä tehtiin, jotta saataisiin selville heidän motivaationsa sekä kielen oppimiseen, että sen kautta yhteiskuntaan sopeutumiseen. Tutkimus suoritettiin verkkohaastatteluina. Tutkimukseen valittiin kolmetoista kansainvälistä työntekijää ja tutkimustulokset analysoitiin temaattisen analyysin avulla. Havaittuja koodeja pyrittiin tutkimaan samoista näkökulmista molemmissa konteksteissa, jotta tasa-arvoinen vertailu olisi mahdollista. Keskeisimmät havaitut koodit yhteiskuntakontekstissa olivat suhteiden ja tuen tärkeys, ajattelutavan ja asenteen merkitys, yksilölliset muutokset, säilytetyt arvot, ryhmittymisen vaikutus ja espanjan kielen sujuvuus. Organisaatiokontekstissa tärkeimmät havaitut koodit olivat työasenteen merkitys, säilytetyt työarvot sekä kansainvälisen ja kieliryhmittyneen ympäristön vaikutus espanjan kielen oppimiseen. Osallistujien käsitykset eroavaisuuksista näiden kontekstien sekä löydettyjen koodien välillä olivat merkittävät. The main aim of this study is to discuss various perceived factors related to international employees’ perceptions and experiences of their adaptation to the societal and organizational contexts. There is a gap of studies comparing social and organizational contexts, which is why this study brings a unique viewpoint for this topic. The study and the research questions pursue to find out different perceived factors impacting on the adaptative perceptions and experiences in these two contexts as well as compare those contexts with each other. The research was conducted by interviewing employees of a multinational organization located in Spain. Spanish language learning and proficiency and its relation to experiences of adaptation is furthermore studied in order to find out the motivational factors and perceptions towards adaptation. Thirteen international employees were interviewed for the study. Through thematic analysis methods, the main codes were identified and discussed in the findings. In order to be able to compare the results equally, the identified codes are discussed from the similar viewpoints. The main identified codes in the societal context are importance of support systems and relationships, impact of mindset, perceived individual changes and retained values, ingroups and Spanish language proficiency. In the organizational context the main detected codes are impact of work mindset, retained work values, influence of international and language clustered environment and its impact on Spanish learning. There are various identified and perceived differences between the contexts as well as differences in participants perceptions towards adapting to these contexts.
