T\u00e4t\u00e4 asiaa voi l\u00e4hesty\u00e4 eri tavoin ja eri n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmista. Yksi n\u00e4k\u00f6kulma on itseohjautuvuus. Itseohjautuvuus on kattok\u00e4site, joka pit\u00e4\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00e4\u00e4n itseohjautuvuuden eritasoiset ja erilaiset organisoitumisen muodot. Toinen syy muutokseen on toimintaymp\u00e4rist\u00f6n nopeat muutokset, jotka vaativat uusia ratkaisuja yrityksilt\u00e4. Asiakkaiden tarpeisiin vastaaminen ja teollisuuden muutokset ajavat yrityksi\u00e4 ketter\u00e4mpiin toimintatapoihin. Itseohjautuvuus perustuu itseohjautuvuusteoriaan. Teorian mukaan motivaatiota on kahdenlaista: sis\u00e4ist\u00e4 ja ulkoista. Ihmiset, joilla on korkea sis\u00e4inen motivaatio ei tarkoita v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4, ett\u00e4 heill\u00e4 olisi m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisesti enemm\u00e4n motivaatiota vaan laadullisesti parempi motivaatio. Lis\u00e4ksi teorian mukaan ihmisill\u00e4 on kolme psykologista perustarvetta: autonomia, yhteenkuuluvuus ja kompetenssit. Kun n\u00e4m\u00e4 tarpeet t\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n ihmiset motivoituvat sis\u00e4isesti. Tuloksena on kest\u00e4v\u00e4mpi motivaatio, joka ajaa ihmisi\u00e4 eteenp\u00e4in. Huolimatta siit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 itseohjautuvuudella on eri tasoja, t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa keskityt\u00e4\u00e4n yksil\u00f6tasoon. Tutkimuskohteena olevan yrityksen k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 itseohjautuvuudesta analysoitiin laadullisella metodilla. Tavoitteena oli saada ymm\u00e4rrys siit\u00e4, miten ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4t ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4v\u00e4t itseohjautuvuuden ja miten he kuvaavat itseohjautuvuutta hidastavia ja tukevia asioita. Tutkimuksen tulosten perusteella voi sanoa, ett\u00e4 tutkimuskohteena olevalla tiimill\u00e4 on hyv\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rrys siit\u00e4 mit\u00e4 itseohjautuvuus tarkoittaa. Itseohjautuvuusteorian mukaiset perustarpeet t\u00e4yttyv\u00e4t kohdeyrityksess\u00e4. Viel\u00e4 yhten\u00e4isempi ymm\u00e4rrys itseohjautuvuudesta tukisi yrityst\u00e4. Avoin keskustelu siit\u00e4, miten itseohjautuvuutta vied\u00e4\u00e4n eteenp\u00e4in, olisi hyv\u00e4 k\u00e4yd\u00e4. Yrityksell\u00e4 on hyv\u00e4 pohja itseohjautuvuuden vahvistamiseen, oikean tavan ja suunnan l\u00f6yt\u00e4minen vaatii viel\u00e4 keskustelua ja suunnittelua. The realisation that well-being employees are the greatest strength of the companies has reached different industries. There are different ways approach this topic and one of the current ones is self-determination. Self-determination is a hypernym for the different forms and levels of self-determination. Another reason for the organisations to seek new solutions is the rapid changes in business landscape. Responses to the customer needs and changes in industries are demanding companies to be agile in order to survive.\nSelf-determination is based on self-determination theory (SDT). According to SDT there are two kinds of motivation: intrinsic and extrinsic. People who have intrinsic motivation might not have more motivation, but rather have better quality of motivation. Another\nkey point in SDT is that people have three basic psychological needs and the needs are autonomy, relatedness, and competence. Granted that the needs are fulfilled, people will become intrinsically motivated. What follows is more sustainable motivation that drives\npeople. \nEven so, there are different forms and levels of self-determination. In this study the focus is on the individual level. This study uses qualitative analysis on studying a case company\u00b4s view of self-determination. The aim was to illustrate how the employees see selfdetermination and how they describe the supportive and preventive aspects. The results show that the case company\u00b4s focus team has quite good understanding on what self-determination means. The basic psychological needs of the employees, according to SDT, are fulfilled. Yet there is a need for having common understanding on what self-determination means for us. The dialogue needs to be started, and there needs to be\na common agreement on how to implement self-determination.
