Erityisesti tarkoituksena oli tutkia fyysisen aktiivisuuden yhteyksi\u00e4 lukiolaisten el\u00e4m\u00e4ntyytyv\u00e4isyyteen, koettuun opintojen kuormittavuuteen ja koettuun opintomenestykseen. K\u00e4ytetty aineisto oli osa laajempaa LIKES-tutkimuskeskuksen tutkimusta \u201dOpiskelijoiden fyysinen aktiivisuus, toimintakyky ja hyvinvointitutkimus\u201d, josta t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkielmassa analysoitiin 257 lukiolaisen kyselytutkimuksen tuloksia. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin vuosien 2017 ja 2018 aikana. M\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llisen aineiston analysoinnissa k\u00e4ytettiin ristiintaulukointia, khiin neli\u00f6 (\u03c72) -testi\u00e4, korrelaatiotarkastelua ja riippumattomien otosten t-testi\u00e4. \nFyysisen aktiivisuuden suosituksen, eli v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4n tunti fyysist\u00e4 aktiivisuutta joka p\u00e4iv\u00e4, saavutti tavallisena viikkona 7,9 prosenttia ja kysely\u00e4 edelt\u00e4v\u00e4n\u00e4 viikkona 9,1 prosenttia lukiolaisista. Suurin osa lukiolaisista (77,4 %) raportoi el\u00e4m\u00e4ntyytyv\u00e4isyytens\u00e4 arvosanalla kahdeksan tai yhdeks\u00e4n. Enemmist\u00f6 koki opintomenestyksens\u00e4 olevan hyv\u00e4 (45,4 %) tai keskinkertainen (42,0 %). Tyt\u00f6t ja pojat eiv\u00e4t eronneet merkitsev\u00e4sti fyysisen aktiivisuuden, el\u00e4m\u00e4ntyytyv\u00e4isyyden ja koetun opintomenestyksen suhteen. Hieman yli puolet (54,1 %) opiskelijoista piti lukion ty\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4 sopivana, mutta toisaalta 40,9 % arvioi ty\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n melko usein liian suureksi. Tyt\u00f6t kokivat ty\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n poikia suuremmaksi (p=,001). Yli puolet lukiolaisista koki rasittuvansa lukio-opinnoista jonkin verran tai paljon. Tyt\u00f6t kokivat rasittuvansa poikia enemm\u00e4n (p<,001). \nVapaa-ajan liikuntaharrastaminen oli positiivisesti, tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4sti yhteydess\u00e4 el\u00e4m\u00e4ntyytyv\u00e4isyyteen (p=,038). Tavallisen viikon fyysinen aktiivisuus oli melkein merkitsev\u00e4sti yhteydess\u00e4 koettuun opintojen ty\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4n (p=,044) siten, ett\u00e4 v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n aktiiviset kokivat opintonsa kuormittavammaksi. Fyysisen aktiivisuuden ja koetun opintomenestyksen v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei ollut tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4\u00e4 yhteytt\u00e4. Paremmaksi el\u00e4m\u00e4ntyytyv\u00e4isyytens\u00e4 kokeneet kokivat rasittuvansa opinnoista v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n verrattuna v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n tyytyv\u00e4isiin (p=,001). Lis\u00e4ksi el\u00e4m\u00e4ntyytyv\u00e4isyys oli melkein merkitsev\u00e4sti yhteydess\u00e4 pienemp\u00e4\u00e4n koettuun opintojen ty\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4n (p=,016). \nYhteydet saattavat olla kaksisuuntaisia. Parempi el\u00e4m\u00e4ntyytyv\u00e4isyys voi olla syy siihen, ett\u00e4 opinnot koetaan v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n rasittaviksi. Tai vastaavasti se, ett\u00e4 opiskelija kokee opinnot v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n rasittavaksi voi aiheuttaa parempaa el\u00e4m\u00e4ntyytyv\u00e4isyytt\u00e4. Opettajien ja huoltajien on syyt\u00e4 kiinnitt\u00e4\u00e4 lukiolaisten jaksamiseen ja opintojen kuormittavuuteen erityist\u00e4 huomiota, jotta tukea voitaisiin tarjota riitt\u00e4v\u00e4n aikaisessa vaiheessa. My\u00f6s ennaltaehk\u00e4iseviin toimiin, kuten liikunnan lis\u00e4\u00e4miseen, olisi syyt\u00e4 keskitty\u00e4, jottei lukiolaisten liiallisesta kuormittavuudesta muodostu ongelmaa.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The purpose of the study was to investigate the upper secondary students\u2019 amounts of physical activity, life satisfaction, perceived study stress, perceived academic success and gender differences in these factors. Especially, the purpose was to study associations between physical activity, life satisfaction, perceived study stress and perceived academic success. The study material was part of the broader LIKES research center study \u201cStudents physical activity, ability to function, and well-being -study\u201d whereof in this study was analyzed 257 secondary students\u2019 answers of the questionnaire. The data was collected between the years 2017 and 2018. The quantitative data was analyzed by using crosstabulation, chi-squared (\u03c72) tests, correlation analysis and independent samples t-tests. \nIn ordinary week 7,9 per cent and in previous week by 9,1 per cent of the upper secondary school students achieved physical activity guidelines, 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Most of the students (77,4 %) reported their life satisfaction with grades eight or nine. Majority of the students experienced their academic success being good (45,5 %) or mediocre (42,0 %). Girls and boys didn\u2019t differ significantly with physical activity, life satisfaction or perceived academic success. Slightly more than half (54,1 %) of the students experienced upper secondary school\u2019s workload proper but again 40,9 % experienced it fairly often too big. Girls perceived the workload of the studies bigger than boys (p=.001). More than half of the students experienced being stressed because of studies somewhat or a lot. Girls perceived being stressed more often than boys (p<.001). \nLeisure time exercising was significantly positively associated with life satisfaction (p=,038). Ordinary week physical activity was weakly associated with perceived study load (p=,044) so, that less active students perceived more study load. There was no significant association between physical activity and perceived academic success. Students who perceived their life satisfaction better, experienced less study stress compared to students with poorer life satisfaction (p<,001). Additionally, life satisfaction was weakly associated with lower perceived study workload of the studies (p=,016). \nThe associations can be two-way. Better life satisfaction can be a reason for, that students perceive their studies less stressful. Or the other way around when students perceive their studies less stressful, it can cause better life satisfaction. Teachers and parents should pay more attention on upper secondary students\u2019 wellbeing and stressfulness of the studies so that support can be offered in an early stage.
