Uusia hoitok\u00e4yt\u00e4nt\u00f6j\u00e4 ja hoitomenetelmi\u00e4 tulee markkinoille ja niit\u00e4 hy\u00f6dynnet\u00e4\u00e4n asiakkaiden ja potilaiden hoitamisessa. Palveluketjut voidaan n\u00e4hd\u00e4 prosessiketjuina, jotka koostuvat niin hoidollisista kuin my\u00f6s organisatorisista prosesseista. Palveluketjujen tavoitteena on muun muassa tuottaa hoitoa saavalle henkil\u00f6lle yhten\u00e4inen kuva h\u00e4nen saamastansa hoidostansa. Palveluketjujen hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4misell\u00e4 voidaan saavuttaa my\u00f6s muitakin hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4 kuten esimerkiksi hoitoty\u00f6ss\u00e4 tapahtuvan variaation laskemista ja uusien hoitok\u00e4yt\u00e4nteiden jalkauttamisessa organisaatioon. Palveluketjujen l\u00e4pin\u00e4kyvyys tietohallinnolle on ollut Apotti hankkeen alkuvaiheessa vajanaista. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 miten palveluketjut n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyv\u00e4t tietohallinnolle ja mink\u00e4laisia haasteita tietohallinto voi kohdata palveluketjujen j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4tuen tuottamisessa. Tutkimuksen kirjallisuuskatsauksessa keskityttiin tietohallintoon ja palveluketjuihin. N\u00e4iden lis\u00e4ksi teoriaosuudessa k\u00e4siteltiin my\u00f6s palveluketjuja tietohallinnon n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. Tutkimuksen tutkimuskysymykset esitettiin seuraavissa muodoissa: miten palveluketjurakenne ja sen vaatimukset n\u00e4kyv\u00e4t tietohallinnolle ja millaisia haasteita liittyy palveluketjun j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4tuen tuottamiseen? Tutkimus suoritettiin laadullisella tutkimusotteella ja aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin teemahaastattelujen avulla. Aineiston analysointiin tehtiin teemoittelun avulla. Tutkimuksen teemahaastatteluihin osallistui viisi ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4\u00e4 Apotin tietohallinnosta, jossa he ty\u00f6skentelev\u00e4t johtaja-, esimies tai asiantuntija-teht\u00e4viss\u00e4. Tutkimustulokset osoittivat palveluketjujen olevan haasteellisia tietohallinnon n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. Palveluketjut vaativat tietohallinnolta toiminnan syv\u00e4llist\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4mist\u00e4 ennen kuin niit\u00e4 voidaan tukea tehokkaasti tietoj\u00e4rjestelmien avulla. Palveluketjut n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyv\u00e4t tietohallinnolle muun muussa uniikkeina ja organisaatiokohtaisina prosessiketjuina, joiden sis\u00e4lt\u00e4m\u00e4t prosessit ovat varsin tietointensiivisi\u00e4. Kohdatut haasteet keskittyiv\u00e4t muun muassa toiminnan ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4miseen ja toimialueiden pirstaloituneeseen j\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4kentt\u00e4\u00e4n. New clinical practices and treatment methods will emerge to the market and those will be used in the care process of customers and patients. Critical pathway can be viewed as a chain of processes, which includes medical treatment and organizational pro-cesses. One of the goals of the critical pathways is to create a consistent image of the care for the person who is under care. By using critical pathway, other benefits can also be achieved such as for example reducing variations in the care process and implementing new clinical practices into the organizations. Critical pathways visibility to Apotti\u2019s IT-management have been deficient in beginning of the Apotti project. Purpose of this research was to find out how IT-management sees these critical pathways and what kind of challenges IT-management might face when providing system support for critical pathways. Literature review focused on IT-management and critical pathways. In addition to this, critical pathways from the IT-management perspective were also stud-ied. The study\u2019s research question was as follows: how critical pathway\u2019s struc-ture and its requirements will be shown to IT-management and what kind of challenges IT-management is facing when providing system support for the critical pathways. The study was conducted with qualitative research approach and material was collected through theme interviews. Gathered material was analyzed by using theming method. Five employees from Apotti\u2019s IT-management department were participating to study\u2019s theme interviews. Inter-viewed employees were working as director, manager or expert positions. Re-sults revealed that critical pathways are challenging from the IT-managements perspective. Critical pathways require deep understanding of the business be-fore the systems support for them can provided by IT-management. From the IT-management\u2019s perspective, critical pathways can be viewed as unique and organization specific chain of processes, whose processes are very information sensitive. Encountered challenges were focusing on understanding of the busi-ness and domains\u2019 shattered system environment.
