Toiminnalliset ty\u00f6tavat ovat perusopetuksen opetussuunnitelman (2016) mukaan t\u00e4rkeit\u00e4 opetusmenetelmi\u00e4, joita korostetaan englannin kielen opetuksessa. Suomessa valtakunnallinen opetussuunnitelma m\u00e4\u00e4ritt\u00e4\u00e4 englannin kielen opettamisen keinoja ja t\u00e4t\u00e4 opetussuunnitelmaa p\u00e4ivitet\u00e4\u00e4n tietyin aikav\u00e4lein vastaamaan nykyaikaa, jolloin kieliopin opetusmenetelm\u00e4tkin muuttuvat.\nOppikirjat ovat Suomessa hyvin laajasti k\u00e4ytettyj\u00e4 oppimateriaaleja. Niiden tutkiminen tarjoaa tietoa opetuksesta Suomessa yleens\u00e4, koska viimeaikaisten tutkimusten mukaan suurin osa vieraan kielen opettajista k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 usein oppikirjoja opetuksessaan. Uusimpien oppikirjojen tulisi noudattaa uutta opetussuunnitelmaa, jossa korostetaan toiminnallisia ty\u00f6tapoja englannin kielen kohdalla.\nOppikirja-analyyseja kielioppiteht\u00e4vist\u00e4 on tehty vain muutamia Suomessa, mutta ei toiminnallisten (active learning) kielioppiteht\u00e4vien n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta aikaisemmin. T\u00e4m\u00e4 antoi motivaation tutkimuksen tekemiselle yhdess\u00e4 oppikirjojen jatkuvan arvioinnin tarpeen kanssa. Tutkimuksessa analysoitiin kahden englannin oppikirjasarjan, On the Go ja Spotlight, kielioppiteht\u00e4vi\u00e4 7.\u20139. luokan teht\u00e4v\u00e4kirjoista. Aineistosta tutkittiin teht\u00e4vien m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4t ja teht\u00e4v\u00e4tyypit kussakin oppikirjasarjassa. Tutkielman p\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n\u00e4 oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 millaisia toiminnallisia (active learning) ty\u00f6tapoja teht\u00e4v\u00e4kirjojen kielioppiteht\u00e4viss\u00e4 esiintyy. Analyysimenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin laadullista sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysia. Teht\u00e4v\u00e4kirjat luettiin l\u00e4pi useampaan kertaan, ja kaikki kielioppiteht\u00e4v\u00e4t kategorisoitiin.\nTutkimuksen tulokset osoittavat, ett\u00e4 puhtaasti toiminnallisia (active learning) kielioppiteht\u00e4vi\u00e4 On the Go ja Spotlight kirjasarjoista l\u00f6ytyy viidest\u00e4 eri toiminnallisuuden kategoriasta: pelit, ristikot, p\u00e4\u00e4ttelyteht\u00e4v\u00e4t, tutkimusteht\u00e4v\u00e4t ja pari-/ryhm\u00e4ty\u00f6skentely. Tulokset osoittavat my\u00f6s, ett\u00e4 perinteisi\u00e4 kielioppiteht\u00e4vi\u00e4, kuten k\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6slauseita, esiintyy kuitenkin edelleen enemm\u00e4n kuin toiminnallisia teht\u00e4vi\u00e4.
