Viestint\u00e4strategioiden ja niiden tutkiminen oppikirjoista on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 ja perusteltua, sill\u00e4 kieltenopetus on jo pitk\u00e4\u00e4n painottanut viestinn\u00e4llisyytt\u00e4 sek\u00e4 suullisen kielitaidon hallintaa.\n\nTutkielman ensimm\u00e4isess\u00e4 osassa kartoitamme kieltenopetusta ohjaavia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4: Eurooppalaista viitekehyst\u00e4, Perusopetuksen ja Lukion opetussuunnitelmien perusteita, sek\u00e4 itse oppikirjojen roolia opetuksessa. Toisessa osassa k\u00e4sitell\u00e4\u00e4n viestinn\u00e4llisen kielitaidon m\u00e4\u00e4ritelm\u00e4\u00e4 ja sen eri osa-alueita, jotka jaetaan viitekehyksen sek\u00e4 eri teorioiden mukaisesti kieliopilliseen, sosiolingvistiseen, strategiseen sek\u00e4 vuorovaikutukselliseen osa-alueeseen. Toisessa\nosassa tarkastellaan my\u00f6s viestint\u00e4strategioiden m\u00e4\u00e4ritelm\u00e4\u00e4, joka jaetaan viitekehykseen sek\u00e4 eri teorioihin perustuen vuorovaikutus- ja kompensaatiostrategioihin.\n\nKolmannessa osassa tutkitaan ensin, kuinka oppikirjojen sis\u00e4lt\u00f6 tukee oppilaiden suullisen viestinn\u00e4llisen kielitaidon kehittymist\u00e4. Molemmat oppikirjat sis\u00e4lt\u00e4v\u00e4t erilaisia tilannesidonnaisia viestint\u00e4strategioita hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4vi\u00e4 dialogeja, jotka toimivat mallina oppilaiden v\u00e4lisille keskusteluille. Lis\u00e4ksi molemmista oppikirjasarjoista l\u00f6ytyi suullisia harjoituksia, jotka ohjaavat oppilaita esimerkiksi kertomaan, keskustelemaan, n\u00e4yttelem\u00e4\u00e4n, haastattelemaan, kysym\u00e4\u00e4n\nja vastaamaan sek\u00e4 reagoimaan tilanteeseen sopivalla tavalla. T\u00e4m\u00e4n j\u00e4lkeen tutkitaan kvalitatiivisia ja kvantitatiivisia menetelmi\u00e4 hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4en, mink\u00e4laisia vuorovaikutus- ja kompensaatiostrategioita oppikirjojen mallit ja harjoitukset sis\u00e4lt\u00e4v\u00e4t.\n\nTutkimus osoittaa, ett\u00e4 molemmat sarjat tarjoavat vuorovaikutusstrategioita sis\u00e4lt\u00e4vi\u00e4 malleja ja harjoituksia, jotka tukevat viestinn\u00e4llisen suullisen kielitaidon kehittymist\u00e4. Eri strategiat ja niiden m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 painottuvat sarjoissa kuitenkin hieman eri tavoin. Sen sijaan kompensaatiostrategioita esiintyy molemmissa oppikirjoissa todella v\u00e4h\u00e4n tai ei lainkaan, vaikka esimerkiksi kiertoilmauksien k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 voisi olla hy\u00f6dyllist\u00e4 vieraan kielen oppijoille.
