Tavoitteena oli my\u00f6s saada selville, millaista luontoliikuntaa ja kuinka paljon lukiolaiset harrastavat sek\u00e4 miten lukiolaiset kokevat luontoliikunnan hy\u00f6dyt psyykkiselle hyvinvoinnille.\n\nTutkimukseen osallistui lukiolaisia kuudesta eri lukiosta Uudeltamaalta, Pohjois-Pohjanmaalta, Keski-Suomesta sek\u00e4 Pohjois-Savosta (n=450). Tutkimukseen osallistuneista oli tytt\u00f6j\u00e4 290, poikia 154 ja 6 ilmoitti sukupuolekseen muu. Lukiolaisten fyysist\u00e4 aktiivisuutta, psyykkist\u00e4 hyvinvointia ja opintojen koettua kuormittavuutta tutkittiin s\u00e4hk\u00f6isell\u00e4 kyselylomakkeella, joka t\u00e4ytettiin koulussa. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytettiin m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4llist\u00e4 tutkimusotetta. Lukiolaisten luontoliikunta-aktiivisuutta, opintojen koettua kuormittavuutta ja psyykkist\u00e4 hyvinvointia sek\u00e4 n\u00e4iden yhteyksi\u00e4 tutkittiin aineiston jakaumien, ristiintaulukoinnin, Khiin neli\u00f6testin, lineaarisen regressioanalyysin ja t-testin avulla.\n\nLukiolaiset liikkuivat kes\u00e4aikaan luonnossa enemm\u00e4n kuin talviaikaan. Luonnossa p\u00e4ivitt\u00e4in liikkui lukiolaisista 26 % kes\u00e4aikaan (touko-syyskuu) ja 12 % talviaikaan (loka-huhtikuu). Suurin osa lukiolaisista liikkui luonnossa sek\u00e4 kes\u00e4- (47 %) ett\u00e4 talviaikaan (45 %) 1\u20133 kertaa viikossa. Tytt\u00f6jen ja poikien luontoliikunta-aktiivisuudessa ei ollut suuria eroja. Yleisimm\u00e4t luontoliikuntalajit lukiolaisilla olivat juoksu/h\u00f6lkk\u00e4 (79 %), k\u00e4vely/sauvak\u00e4vely (76 %), py\u00f6r\u00e4ily/maastopy\u00f6r\u00e4ily (71 %) ja uinti/avantouinti (66 %).\n\nKolmasosalla lukiolaisista oli korkea psyykkinen hyvinvointi, ja viidesosalla matala psyykkinen hyvinvointi. Pojilla oli tytt\u00f6j\u00e4 parempi psyykkinen hyvinvointi. Regressioanalyysin mukaan fyysinen aktiivisuus ja psyykkinen hyvinvointi olivat yhteydess\u00e4 toisiinsa sek\u00e4 tyt\u00f6ill\u00e4 ja pojilla. Lis\u00e4ksi luontoliikunta-aktiivisuus oli yhteydess\u00e4 psyykkiseen hyvinvointiin pojilla. \n\nPuolet lukiolaisista koki itsens\u00e4 eritt\u00e4in kuormittuneeksi opinnoistaan. Tyt\u00f6t kokivat olevansa kuormittuneempia opinnoistaan kuin pojat. Mit\u00e4 enemm\u00e4n lukiolainen liikkui vapaa-ajallaan, sit\u00e4 v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n h\u00e4n oli kuormittunut opinnoistaan. Luontoliikunta-aktiivisuudella ja opintojen koetulla kuormittavuudella ei ollut yhteytt\u00e4.\n\nLukiolaisten psyykkist\u00e4 hyvinvointia tulee tukea paremmin esimerkiksi liikunnan avulla, ja luontoliikunnalla voi olla rooli hyvinvoinnin edist\u00e4j\u00e4n\u00e4 yhten\u00e4 liikuntalajina muiden joukossa. Nuorten kiinnostusta luontoliikuntaan voidaan vauhdittaa tarjoamalla harrastusmahdollisuuksia erityisesti uusille luontoliikuntalajeille, joihin nuoret tarttuvat muita ik\u00e4ryhmi\u00e4 nopeammin.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The purpose of this study was to investigate a possible association with upper secondary school students\u2019 green exercise activity, mental well-being and the experienced study workload. The aim was also to research the upper secondary school students\u2019 quality and quantity of green exercise and their experiences of the benefits of green exercise to their mental well-being.\n\nThe participants of the study were 450 Finnish upper secondary school students from six different schools from different parts of Finland. 290 of the participants were girls, 154 boys and 6 stated their gender as non-binary. Students\u2019 green exercise activity, mental well-being and the experienced study workload were measured with an electronic questionnaire filled in school. In this study, quantitative approach was used. Data distributions, cross tabulation, chi-squared test, linear regression and t-test were used to study students\u2019 green exercise activity, experienced study workload, mental well-being and their relations to each other.\n\nThe upper secondary students were more physically active in the nature in summertime. The results showed that 26 % of upper secondary students participated in green exercise daily in summertime (from May to September) and 12 % in wintertime (from October to April). The majority of upper secondary students (approximately 50 %) were physically active in the nature 1\u20133 times a week both in summer and in wintertime. The differences between girls\u2019 and boys\u2019 green exercise activity were minor. The most popular green exercise activities were running/jogging (79 %), walking/Nordic walking (76 %), cycling/mountain biking (71 %), swimming/ice swimming (66 %) and pet walking (53 %).\n\nAccording to this study, one third of the students had high mental well-being and one fifth had low mental well-being. Boys had better mental well-being than girls. The linear regression model suggests that physical activity and mental well-being are associated with each other in both boys and girls, but green exercise as one type of physical activity might also have significance for mental well-being, especially among boys.\n\nHalf of the upper secondary students felt highly stressed about their workload in school. Girls were more stressed than boys. The more a student engaged in physical activity, the less stressed they were. Green exercise activity was not associated with lower levels of school-related stress.\n\nThe mental well-being of high school students should be supported better with the help of physical activity. Green exercise might play a role as one type of sport when enhancing students\u2019 mental well-being.
