Ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n on\nviime vuosina saapunut uusi sukupolvi, vuosina 1981-2000 syntyneet millenniaalit (Gilbert,\n2011; Kong & Wang, 2015), jotka tulevat edustamaan yh\u00e4 suurempaa ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden osuutta\ntulevaisuuden ty\u00f6markkinoilla (Ismail & Lu, 2014). Organisaatiot ovat kohdanneet uusia\nhaasteita n\u00e4iden aiempia sukupolvia vaihtelunhaluisempien ja lyhyiss\u00e4 ty\u00f6suhteissa viihtyvien\n(Anantatmula & Shrivastav 2012, 13) nuorten ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden sitouttamiseksi (Sledge 2016).\nHenkil\u00f6st\u00f6n sitoutumattomuus tuo organisaatioille kustannuksia ja vie ajallisia resursseja\n(Sledge 2016, 1). Sen sijaan sitoutunut henkil\u00f6st\u00f6 on organisaatiolle voimavara sen menestyst\u00e4\nedist\u00e4v\u00e4n\u00e4 tekij\u00e4n\u00e4 (Bridger, 2015).\nTutkimuksen tavoitteena oli vastata kahteen tutkimuskysymykseen, jotka olivat 1) millainen rooli\norganisaation ja ty\u00f6yhteis\u00f6n viestinn\u00e4ll\u00e4 on millenniaalien sitoutumisessa ja 2) millainen rooli\norganisaation ja ty\u00f6yhteis\u00f6n viestinn\u00e4ll\u00e4 on millenniaalien sitouttamisessa. Tavoitteena oli saada\nselvyytt\u00e4 siihen, mitk\u00e4 viestinn\u00e4lliset tekij\u00e4t parantavat millenniaalien sitoutumista, sek\u00e4 siihen,\nmillaisilla viestinn\u00e4n keinoilla organisaatio voi parantaa ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6idens\u00e4 sitouttamista.\nTutkimuksen teoreettisena viitekehyksen\u00e4 k\u00e4ytettiin soveltaen Four Flows -mallia, jossa\norganisaation k\u00e4sitet\u00e4\u00e4n muodostuvan viestinn\u00e4ss\u00e4 nelj\u00e4n viestint\u00e4prosessin,\nj\u00e4senyysneuvottelun, organisatorisen itsej\u00e4rjest\u00e4ytymisen, toiminnan yhteensovittamisen, sek\u00e4\ninstitutionaalisen asemoitumisen kautta. Tutkimusmetodina oli laadullinen tutkimus. Aineisto\nker\u00e4ttiin yksil\u00f6teemahaastatteluilla ja se analysoitiin teoriaohjaavan sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysin\nmenetelmin. Tutkimus toteutettiin kohdeyritykseen Berner Oy.\nTulosten mukaan viestinn\u00e4ll\u00e4 on sitoutumisessa useita rooleja: mahdollistaja, vahvistaja,\nmuokkaaja ja viestint\u00e4toimijuus. Yrityksen viestint\u00e4 mahdollistaa sitoutumisen, kun puolestaan\nyhteis\u00f6n viestint\u00e4 vahvistaa ja muokkaa sit\u00e4. Sitoutumisesta my\u00f6s syntyy viestint\u00e4toimijuutta,\nkun sitoutuneesta ty\u00f6ntekij\u00e4st\u00e4 tulee vaikutusmahdollisuutensa tiedostava, sek\u00e4 osallistuvampi\nja vuorovaikutteisempi organisaation sis\u00e4isiss\u00e4 ja ulkopuolisissa suhteissaan.
