Lis\u00e4ksi olin kiinnostunut tiet\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n opettajien kokemat valmiutensa n\u00e4iden tilanteiden kohtaamiseen sek\u00e4 kuulemaan ongelma- ja ristiriitatilanteiden vaikutuksista opettajaan itseens\u00e4 ja h\u00e4nen vuorovaikutussuhteisiinsa. Tutkimuksen viitekehyksess\u00e4 tunnetaitoja ovat tunteiden tunnistaminen ja ilmaisu, tunteiden hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4minen ajattelun apuna, tunteiden s\u00e4\u00e4tely ja my\u00f6t\u00e4el\u00e4minen. Vuorovaikutustaitoja tarkasteltiin Thomas Gordonin vuorovaikutusmallin mukaisin k\u00e4sittein. Taitoja olivat selke\u00e4 itseilmaisu min\u00e4viestein, kuuntelun taidot sek\u00e4 ongelmanratkaisun taidot.\nTutkimus toteutettiin laadullisella tutkimusotteella ja -menetelmill\u00e4. Tutkimuksen tieteenfilosofinen l\u00e4ht\u00f6kohta oli fenomenologis-hermeneuttinen. Tutkimusaineisto ker\u00e4ttiin teemahaastattelulla viidelt\u00e4 yl\u00e4koulun liikunnanopettajalta. Opettajista kolme oli naisia ja kaksi miehi\u00e4. Liikunnanopettajista kaksi opetti Pirkanmaalla, kaksi Keski-Suomessa ja yksi Satakunnassa. Haastateltavat olivat i\u00e4lt\u00e4\u00e4n 42-59-vuotiaita. Opettajien ty\u00f6kokemus vaihteli 15 vuodesta 34 vuoteen. Haastattelut toteutettiin nauhoittamalla henkil\u00f6kohtaiset keskustelut, jotka kestiv\u00e4t 39-59 minuuttia. Haastattelut litteroitiin tekstimuotoon. Litteroitua teksti\u00e4 syntyi 105 sivua fonttikoolla 12, riviv\u00e4lill\u00e4 1,5 ja Times New Roman-fonttia k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en. Litteroidun tekstin analysointiin k\u00e4ytettiin teoriaohjaavaa sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysia.\nTutkimuksen tuloksissa ilmeni, ett\u00e4 liikunnanopettajat kohtaavat ty\u00f6ss\u00e4\u00e4n vaihtelevia, p\u00e4\u00e4osin pienimuotoisia ongelma- ja ristiriitatilanteita. Opettajan toimintaa haastavista tilanteista useimmat liittyv\u00e4t oppilaiden h\u00e4iri\u00f6k\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytymiseen tai oppilaiden v\u00e4lisiin ristiriitoihin. My\u00f6s vanhempien kanssa kohdatut ongelmatilanteet kuvattiin melko yleisiksi. Ty\u00f6yhteis\u00f6ss\u00e4 ilmenevien, kollegoiden v\u00e4listen ongelma- ja ristiriitatilanteiden kuvattiin olevan eritt\u00e4in v\u00e4h\u00e4isi\u00e4. Ongelma- ja ristiriitatilanteiden kohtaamista helpottaviksi ja jaksamista tukeviksi tekij\u00f6iksi n\u00e4htiin maltti, rauhallisuus, hyv\u00e4 oppilaantuntemus, johdonmukainen toiminta ja ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4v\u00e4inen ote. Opettajien k\u00e4ytt\u00e4mi\u00e4 tunne- ja vuorovaikutustaitoja ohjasivat erilaiset periaatteet ja arvot, kuten oppilaan kunnioittaminen, oppilaantuntemus ja kokemuksen tuoma varmuus. Opettajat kokivat valmiutensa ongelma- ja ristiriitatilanteisiin hyviksi. Heikosti hoidetuilla tai ratkaisematta j\u00e4\u00e4neill\u00e4 ongelma- ja ristiriitatilanteilla todettiin voivan olla vuorovaikutussuhteen kannalta haitallisia vaikutuksia.\nTutkimuksen perusteella liikunnanopettajien koulutuksessa on tarvetta tunne- ja vuorovaikutustaitojen ja niiden opettamisen koulutukselle. Opettajat kokivat tunne- ja vuorovaikutustaidoista olevan hy\u00f6ty\u00e4 erilaisten tilanteiden kohtaamisessa. Opettajat kokivat pitk\u00e4n ty\u00f6uran j\u00e4lkeen valmiutensa hyviksi, mutta kuvasivat uriensa alkupuolella olleensa ep\u00e4varmempia ongelma- ja ristiriitatilanteiden kohtaamiseen. Jatkossa olisikin mielenkiintoista tutkia koulutuksen vaikutuksia valmiuksien kehittymiseen sek\u00e4 taitojen k\u00e4yt\u00f6n vaikutuksia opettajan vuorovaikutussuhteisiin ty\u00f6ss\u00e4\u00e4n.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The aim of this study was to explore the challenging situations that physical educations teachers run into in their line of work and the social and emotional interaction skills that they use to cope with these situations. Additionally, I was interested in teachers\u2019 view on their readiness to cope with challenging situations and whether or not the ways the situations go effect teachers themselves and the ways teachers interact with students, parents or colleagues. In the framework of this study, emotional skills consisted of perceiving emotion, facilitating thought using emotion, understanding emotion and managing emotions. Social skills were based on the model by Thomas Gordon and consisted of I-messages, listening skills and problem-solving skills.\n\nThe study was carried out using qualitative research methods. The study held a hermeneutic-phenomenological approach as its basis of scientific philosophy. Research data was gathered from five upper comprehensive school physical education teachers using semi-structured interviews. Three of the interviewees were female and two were male. Two of the teachers worked in Pirkanmaa, two in Central-Finland and one in Satakunta. The teachers\u2019 age ranged from 42 to 59 years and the amount of work experience from 15 to 34 years. Interviews were recorded during personal discussions. The duration of these interviews ranged from 39 to 59 minutes. The interviews were transcribed in to text and analyzed using interpretive phenomenological analysis. The data consisted of 105 written pages in font 12, Times New Roman with row height of 1,5.\n\nThe results showed a wide array of challenging, yet minor, situations that physical education teachers face in their line of work. Most of these situations have to do with the misbehavior of pupils or fights among pupils. Challenging situations with parents were also quite common. Challenging situations among colleagues were considered very few. The teachers emphasized the importance of patience, calmness, consistency and knowledge of ones students as useful factors on dealing with challenging situations. The social and emotional skills used in dealing with challenging situations were affected by teacher\u2019s principles and values and the effects of experience. The interviewees rated their skills in dealing with challenging situations as fairly good. Poorly handled situations were considered to have a negative effect on the nature of one\u2019s relationships.\n\nThis study implies that it is useful for teacher educations to conduct training on social and emotional interaction skills and on how to teach these skills. The teachers in this study regarded their skills currently as fairly good, but they also stated that at the start of their career they were not nearly as adapt.
