T\u00e4m\u00e4n lis\u00e4ksi tutkittiin harvinaisten maametallien, eli REE:ien, talteenottoa k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en erilaisia hartseja rikkihappotaustasta.\nRikkihapolla tapahtuvaa Ni-MH akkujen liuotus optimoitiin k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 eri rikkihappokonsentraatioita. Erilaisina liuotustekniikoina k\u00e4ytettiin sekoitusta ja l\u00e4mmitetty\u00e4 ultra\u00e4\u00e4nihaudetta. Sekoituksellisen 1 M rikkihappoliuotuksen todettiin olevan tehokkain tapa liuottaa Ni-MH akkuja. Liuotusmenetelmien erojen vertailussa k\u00e4ytettiin hy\u00f6dyksi mikroaaltouunihajotuksen tuloksia, sill\u00e4 mikroaaltouunihajotuksella saatiin koko akkumateriaali liuotettua.\nAkkumateriaalin liuotuksen j\u00e4lkeen tutkittiin harvinaisten maametallien talteenottoa k\u00e4ytt\u00e4en erilaisia hartseja 1 M rikkihappotaustasta. Tutkituista hartseista toimivimmiksi hartseiksi, tutkitussa matriisissa, todettiin olevan Lewatit TP260 ja Amberlite IR120. Parhaimmat harvinaisten maametallien eli REE:ien saannot v\u00e4h\u00e4isimmill\u00e4 ep\u00e4puhtauksilla saatiin pH s\u00e4\u00e4detyst\u00e4 n\u00e4ytteest\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00e4m\u00e4ll\u00e4 sekoitusta ja Lewatit TP260 tapauksessa 40 \u00baC:een l\u00e4mmityst\u00e4.\nLewatit TP260 ja Amberlite IR120 hartseille pyrittiin m\u00e4\u00e4ritt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n latauskapasiteetit. IR260 hartsin tapauksessa saatiin m\u00e4\u00e4ritetty\u00e4 Freudlich kuvaaja, mutta TP260 tapauksessa mittauspisteet eiv\u00e4t asettuneet suoralle, joten Freudlich kuvaajaa ei pystytty m\u00e4\u00e4ritt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n.\nHartsien m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4\u00e4 optimoitiin, jotta mahdollisimman paljon REE:ista saataisiin talteen mahdollisimman v\u00e4hill\u00e4 ep\u00e4puhtauksilla. TP260 tapauksessa 0,35 g hartsia 7,5 ml:aa n\u00e4ytett\u00e4 kohti, antoi l\u00e4hes 100 % REE:ien saannot, muiden metallien saantojen ollessa noin 30 %.
