Kanahaukan valitsemat pes\u00e4mets\u00e4t ovat todettuja monimuotoisuuskohteita. Kanahaukka onkin monella tapaa metsien avainlaji. T\u00e4m\u00e4n takia oli tarpeen selvitt\u00e4\u00e4 kanahaukan tyypillisen pes\u00e4mets\u00e4n piirteit\u00e4 mahdollisen elinymp\u00e4rist\u00f6jen suojelun kohdistamiseksi niille alueille, joilla saavutetaan monimuotoisuudelle suotuisin suojelutulos. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa tunnistettiin maksimientropiamallinnuksella kanahaukalle t\u00e4rkeit\u00e4 elinymp\u00e4rist\u00f6muuttujia ja paikannettiin lajille todenn\u00e4k\u00f6isesti sopivia metsi\u00e4 maisematasolla Keski-Suomen alueella MaxEnt-ohjelmalla Luonnonvarakeskuksen valtakunnan metsien inventointiin liittyv\u00e4n monil\u00e4hdetietoaineiston perusteella. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkittiin RandomForest-luokittelun avulla eroja pes\u00e4pisteiden ja satunnaispisteiden ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6ss\u00e4 eri mittakaavoilla. Havaittiin, ett\u00e4 parhaiten kanahaukan pesimisymp\u00e4rist\u00f6ksi sopii sekapuustoinen mets\u00e4, jossa on kuusta yli 150 m3/ha. Maksimientropiamallinnuksen mukaan kanahaukan pesimisymp\u00e4rist\u00f6ksi erinomaisesti tai hyvin sopivaa mets\u00e4\u00e4 oli 8 \u2013 9 % Keski-Suomen maapinta-alasta. Maksimientropiamallinnus todettiin k\u00e4ytett\u00e4viss\u00e4 olleen aineiston puutteet huomioitaessa t\u00e4m\u00e4n ty\u00f6n analysointeihin paremmin soveltuvaksi menetelm\u00e4ksi. Maksimientropiamallinnuksen tuottamia kanahaukalle parhaiten sopivia elinymp\u00e4rist\u00f6muuttujien arvoja ja todenn\u00e4k\u00f6isimpi\u00e4 hyv\u00e4n kanahaukkamets\u00e4n sijainteja voidaan k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 suunniteltaessa kanahaukan suojelutoimenpiteit\u00e4.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The Northern Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis, hereafter Goshawk) is a medium sized bird of prey species, that breeds in mature forests and is classified as nearly threatened (NT) in Finland. The Goshawk indicates forest biodiversity as many threatened species are present in sites that the Goshawk uses for nesting. Therefore, it is important to study forest characteristics typical for Goshawk\u2019s nesting sites in managed forests in order to be able to locate and to target conservation efforts to sites with potentially high biodiversity. In this study, data from National Forest Inventory (NFI) were analyzed with maximum entropy modelling of species\u2019 distributions using the MaxEnt program to identify environmental characteristics typical of the Goshawk\u2019s nest sites, and to locate forests likely suitable for Goshawk nesting within the region of Central Finland. In addition, nest site selection of the Goshawk was studied by detecting differences in habitats between the surroundings of Goshawk\u2019s nest sites and randomly selected forested locations with Random Forest classifier using forest patch inventories and other geographic data from multiple sources. According to my results, the Goshawk prefers forests with a minimum of 150 m3/ha of spruce mixed with some deciduous trees as a nesting habitat.
