Koulut voivat tarjota opetusk\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00f6n esimerkiksi tabletteja ja lis\u00e4ksi oppilaiden omia \u00e4lypuhelimia voidaan k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 erilaisten teht\u00e4vien yhteydess\u00e4. Englannin kielen opiskeluun erilaiset sovellukset tarjoavat monenlaisia uusia mahdollisuuksia, joita pystyy soveltamaan kielten eri osa-alueiden harjoitteluun. T\u00e4m\u00e4n Pro Gradu -tutkielman tarkoitus oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, kuinka paljon mobiililaitteita hy\u00f6dynnet\u00e4\u00e4n englannin lukio-opetuksessa. Lis\u00e4ksi mobiililaitteiden hy\u00f6ty\u00e4 opetuksessa pyrittiin selvitt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n sek\u00e4 yleisell\u00e4 tasolla, ett\u00e4 kielen eri osa-alueiden opetuksessa. Tarkasteltaviksi kielen osa-alueiksi tutkielmassa valikoituivat kuuntelun harjoitteleminen, suullinen ty\u00f6skentely, luetun ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4minen sek\u00e4 kirjoittaminen. Tavoitteena oli selvitt\u00e4\u00e4, k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4nk\u00f6 mobiililaitteita yht\u00e4 paljon eri osa-alueiden opettamisessa, sek\u00e4 kokevatko opettajat niiden k\u00e4yt\u00f6n yht\u00e4 hy\u00f6dyllisen\u00e4 eri osa-alueiden opetuksessa. Aineistonkeruu tapahtui verkkokyselyn avulla, johon vastasi yhteens\u00e4 54 lukion opettajaa. Suurin osa kyselyn kysymyksist\u00e4 oli suljettuja kysymyksi\u00e4, jotka analysoitiin tilastollisin menetelmin. Lis\u00e4ksi kyselyss\u00e4 oli kaksi avointa kysymyst\u00e4, joiden analysointiin k\u00e4ytettiin laadullista sis\u00e4ll\u00f6nanalyysia. Tutkimuksessa saatiin selville, ett\u00e4 mobiililaitteiden k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 koetaan hy\u00f6dylliseksi ja niit\u00e4 k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n laajalti englannin lukio-opetuksessa. Aineiston perusteella mobiililaitteita k\u00e4ytettiin jokaisen kielen osa-alueen opettamisessa melko saman verran. Niiden k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 n\u00e4htiin monia hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4, esimerkiksi tiedonhaku ja erilaisten itsen\u00e4isten harjoitusten toteuttaminen luokkahuoneessa ja sen ulkopuolella. Eri osa-alueiden v\u00e4lill\u00e4 selvin ero hy\u00f6dyllisyydess\u00e4 oli kirjoituksen opettamisessa. Laitteiden n\u00e4yt\u00f6n koko ja n\u00e4pp\u00e4imist\u00f6n puuttuminen n\u00e4htiin ongelmallisina.
