Tutkimuksen tavoitteina on ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4\u00e4 millaisena esimiesten tunne\u00e4ly n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyy sek\u00e4 millaista tunne\u00e4ly\u00e4 Y-sukupolven johtaminen vaatii. Esimiesten kokeman tunne\u00e4lyn teoreettisena viitekehyksen\u00e4 toimii Golemanin (2000b) tunne\u00e4lymalli ja Y-sukupolven tunne\u00e4lyll\u00e4 johtamisen teoreettisena viitekehyksen\u00e4 taas Golemanin (2000c) tilannesidonnaiset johtamistyylit, joiden taustalla vaikuttavat tunne\u00e4lyn eri kyvyt. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu kuudesta (6) teemahaastattelusta, jotka on toteutettu Y-sukupolven ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden esimiehille. Tutkimusaineisto on analysoitu p\u00e4\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6isesti teemoittelun ja tyypittelyn keinoin.\nTutkimustulosten perusteella esimiesten tunne\u00e4ly n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyi korkeana. Tunne\u00e4lyn kyvyist\u00e4 etenkin omien tunteiden tunnistaminen, empatia, toisten kehitt\u00e4minen ja kommunikaatiotaidot n\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyiv\u00e4t esimiehill\u00e4 korkeana ja niiden k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 Y-sukupolven ty\u00f6ntekij\u00f6iden esimiesty\u00f6ss\u00e4 korostui. Y-sukupolven johtamisessa k\u00e4ytett\u00e4viss\u00e4 tilannesidonnaisissa johtamistyyleiss\u00e4 vallitseviksi tyyleiksi nousivat yhdist\u00e4v\u00e4, arvovaltainen ja valmentava johtamistyyli, joissa tunne\u00e4lyn kyvyist\u00e4 etenkin empatia, kommunikaatio ja toisten kehitt\u00e4minen korostuivat. Vallitsevien johtamistyylien lis\u00e4ksi tutkimuksessa koettiin kuitenkin k\u00e4ytett\u00e4v\u00e4n kaikki johtamistyylej\u00e4 jossain m\u00e4\u00e4rin.\nY-sukupolven tunne\u00e4lyll\u00e4 johtamisen vaatimukset voidaan t\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen perusteella kiteytt\u00e4\u00e4 pehmeisiin johtamisarvoihin, jossa etenkin esimiehen empatiakyky, kommunikaatiotaidot ja toisten kehitt\u00e4minen ovat avainasemassa. N\u00e4in ollen esimiehille on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 kehitt\u00e4\u00e4 omia tunne\u00e4lyn kykyj\u00e4 etenkin sosiaalisen tietoisuuden ja ihmissuhteiden hallinnan osa-alueilla. Vaikka t\u00e4m\u00e4n laadullisen tutkimuksen tulokset eiv\u00e4t sellaisenaan ole yleistett\u00e4viss\u00e4, vahvistaa tutkimus tunne\u00e4lyn merkityst\u00e4 esimiesty\u00f6ss\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimus auttaa ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n Y-sukupolven vaatimuksia esimiesty\u00f6t\u00e4 kohtaan.
