Lis\u00e4ksi tarkoituksena oli tarkastella tytt\u00f6jen koetun fyysisen p\u00e4tevyyden sek\u00e4 sosioekonomisen aseman yhteyksi\u00e4 liikunnan merkityksiin ja esteisiin. \n\t\t\t\nAineistomme koostui Lasten ja nuorten liikuntak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyminen Suomessa 2018 (LIITU) -tutkimuksen osa-aineistosta (n=1151), jossa kyselyyn vastanneet nuoret olivat 7.- ja 9.-luokkalaisia tytt\u00f6j\u00e4. Tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytettiin liikunnan esteiden ja merkitysten sek\u00e4 koetun fyysisen p\u00e4tevyyden mittareita. Lis\u00e4ksi k\u00e4ytettiin FAS III-mittaria (Family Affluence Scale) sosioekonomisen aseman selvitt\u00e4miseen. Tilastollisina analyysimenetelmin\u00e4 k\u00e4ytimme ristiintaulukointia, khiin neli\u00f6testi\u00e4, yksisuuntaista varianssianalyysi\u00e4 sek\u00e4 riippumattomien otosten t-testi\u00e4. \n\n7.-luokkalaiset tyt\u00f6t kokivat keskim\u00e4\u00e4rin v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n liikunnan esteit\u00e4 ja pitiv\u00e4t useampia liikunnan merkityksi\u00e4 t\u00e4rke\u00e4mpin\u00e4 kuin 9.-luokkalaiset tyt\u00f6t. T\u00e4rkeimpi\u00e4 liikunnan merkityksi\u00e4 tyt\u00f6ille olivat hyv\u00e4n olon saaminen, ilo sek\u00e4 parhaansa yritt\u00e4minen. Suurimpia liikunnan esteit\u00e4 olivat kiinnostavan lajin ohjauksen puute, muut harrastukset ja koululiikunnan innostamattomuus. Fyysisesti itsens\u00e4 p\u00e4tev\u00e4mmiksi kokeneet tyt\u00f6t raportoivat v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n liikunnan esteit\u00e4 ja pitiv\u00e4t kaikkia liikunnan merkityksi\u00e4 t\u00e4rke\u00e4mpin\u00e4 kuin heikommaksi p\u00e4tevyytens\u00e4 kokeneet. Sosioekonomisten ryhmien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 ei havaittu yht\u00e4 selkeit\u00e4 eroja merkitysten kokemisessa. Alimpaan ja keskimm\u00e4iseen sosioekonomiseen ryhm\u00e4\u00e4n kuuluneet tyt\u00f6t kokivat kiinnostavan lajin ohjauksen puutteen kodin l\u00e4hell\u00e4 ja liikunnan harrastamisen kalleuden suurempana esteen\u00e4 liikunnan harrastamiselle kuin ylimp\u00e4\u00e4n sosioekonomiseen ryhm\u00e4\u00e4n kuuluneet tyt\u00f6t. My\u00f6s liikuntapaikkojen puute kodin l\u00e4heisyydess\u00e4 oli suurempi este alimpaan kuin ylimp\u00e4\u00e4n sosioekonomiseen ryhm\u00e4\u00e4n kuuluneille tyt\u00f6ille.\n\nTutkielmamme antaa ajankohtaista tietoa yl\u00e4kouluik\u00e4isten tytt\u00f6jen liikunnan merkityksist\u00e4 ja esteist\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi se laajentaa n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmaa liikunnan esteisiin ja merkityksiin yhteydess\u00e4 olevista tekij\u00f6ist\u00e4. Tulostemme pohjalta koululiikunnassa ja seuratoiminnassa voidaan paremmin huomioida tyt\u00f6ille t\u00e4rke\u00e4t liikunnan merkitykset ja esteet sek\u00e4 koetun fyysisen p\u00e4tevyyden ja sosioekonomisen aseman yhteys n\u00e4ihin ja suunnitella toimintaa n\u00e4iden pohjalta.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The aim of the study was to investigate perceived physical activity reasons and barriers of 7th and 9th grade girls, as well as establish the differences between these two groups. Additionally, the purpose was to study associations of perceived physical competence and socio-economic status toward perceived reasons and barriers. This study provides current information for teachers, educators and coaches on middle school-aged girls\u2019 perceived reasons and barriers toward physical activity and how these are associated with their socio-economic status and perceived physical competence. \n\nThe data of this study consists of the data of the \u201cLasten ja nuorten liikuntak\u00e4ytt\u00e4ytyminen Suomessa 2018\u201d (LIITU) research (n=1151). Respondents of the questionnaire were 7th and 9th grade girls. We used measurements of perceived reasons, perceived barriers, perceived physical competence, and socio-economic status (Family Affluence Scale, FAS III). The data was analysed using statistical methods such as crosstabs, Chi-Square, independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance. \n\nOn average, the 7th grade girls experienced fewer barriers toward physical activity and considered more reasons towards physical activity than girls in the 9th grade. Girls who perceived themselves physically more competent experienced less physical barriers than those with lower perceived physical competence. The most important reasons toward physical activity was feeling good, joy and trying to do one\u2019s best. Among the biggest barriers were the lack of training possibilities within an interesting sport, other hobbies or physical education at school being uninspiring. \n\nGirls with the weakest perceived physical competence considered all the reasons toward physical activity less important than girls with better physical competence. The differences between the socio-economic groups and perceived reasons of physical activity were less clear. In turn, there were some differences between the socio-economic groups and perceived barriers of physical activity.\n\nThis study provides current and up to date information about middle school-aged girls\u2019 perceived reasons and barriers toward physical activity. Furthermore, it offers a wider perspective about the factors that are associated with perceived reasons and barriers toward physical activity.
