Pelit saavat myös vieraiden kielten oppijat käyttämään enemmän aikaa opiskeltavan kielen parissa, mikä parantaa oppimista. Pelien haittoja ovat muun muassa näennäinen oppiminen ja häiriötekijät, jotka estävät oikeaa oppimista tapahtumasta. In this research paper I examine the benefits of using video games and gamification in the education of theoretical subjects and secondary languages. The purpose of this paper is to find out if there are any benefits to the use of video games in education and what those benefits are. It has been established that video games have the ability to increase the motivation of students which is essential to learning. Video games can also make students spend more time on task when studying secondary languages which improves learning. The disadvantages of video games include apparent but not actual learning and distractions that prevent actual learning from taking place.
