Tutkielman kirjallisessa osassa m\u00e4\u00e4ritell\u00e4\u00e4n ongelmaperustainen oppiminen ja sit\u00e4 vastaavat pedagogiset mallit. Lis\u00e4ksi pohditaan miksi ja miten lukion kemian opetussuunnitelma muuttui vuonna 2015, miksi siihen otettiin mukaan ongelmaperustainen oppiminen ja miten opettajat muutoksen kokivat. Toisaalta perehdyt\u00e4\u00e4n my\u00f6s parhaaseen mahdolliseen tapaan hy\u00f6dynt\u00e4\u00e4 ongelmaperustaista oppimista lukion kemian opetuksessa ja tarjotaan konkreettisia esimerkkej\u00e4 ongelmaperustaisen oppimisen k\u00e4yt\u00f6n tueksi. Lis\u00e4ksi pohditaan opetustyylin hy\u00f6tyj\u00e4 ja haasteita sek\u00e4 oppilaiden ja oppimisen ett\u00e4 opettajien ja opettamisen n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmasta. \n\nLukion kemian opetussuunnitelman perusteita muutettiin, koska opetussuunnitelman haluttiin vastaavan tulevaisuuden ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4taitoja. Sit\u00e4 muutettiin kohti tutkivaa ty\u00f6otetta ja aktiivisen oppijan kuvausta ja vaatimuksiin sis\u00e4llytettiin esimerkiksi tutkiva oppiminen, jota ongelmaperustainen oppiminen mallina vastaa. Sis\u00e4llytys tehtiin, koska sen katsottiin lis\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4n ty\u00f6el\u00e4m\u00e4ss\u00e4 tarvittavia uusia taitoja, kuten kriittist\u00e4 ajattelua ja ongelmanratkaisua. Edell\u00e4 mainitut taidot perusteltiin kirjallisuudessa my\u00f6s ongelmaperustaisen oppimisen suurimmiksi hy\u00f6dyiksi oppilaille ja oppimiselle. Kirjallisuuden perusteella opettajat kokivat opetussuunnitelman perusteiden muutoksen p\u00e4\u00e4osin positiivisena, mutta valittivat opetussuunnitelman ja ongelmaperustaisen oppimisen resurssi-, aika- ja ty\u00f6m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4ongelmista. \n\nPro gradu -tutkielman kokeellisessa osassa on selvitetty kyselytutkimuksella lukion kemian opettajien mielipiteit\u00e4 nykyisest\u00e4 lukion kemian opetussuunnitelmasta, sen muutoksesta ja ongelmaperustaisen oppimisen opetustyylist\u00e4. Tutkimukseen vastasi anonyymisti 16 lukion kemian aineenopettajaa, joilla oli suurimmalla osalla opetuskokemusta takana useita vuosia.\n\nKokeellisen osan perusteella opettajat kokivat lukion kemian opetussuunnitelman muutoksen tarpeellisena ja positiivisena asiana. My\u00f6s ongelmaperustaisen oppimisen lis\u00e4\u00e4minen opetussuunnitelman oli opettajien mielest\u00e4 hyv\u00e4 asia. Opetustyylin haasteina n\u00e4htiin ajank\u00e4yt\u00f6lliset ongelmat ja oppilaiden itseohjautuvuuden riitt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00f6myys. Hy\u00f6dyiksi taas korostettiin oppilaiden kriittisen ajattelun taitojen ja ongelmanratkaisutaitojen kehittyminen.
