Ensimm\u00e4isest\u00e4 ryhm\u00e4st\u00e4 eniten k\u00e4ytetyiksi strategioiksi nousivat sanan arvaaminen kontekstista, sanakirjan k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 sek\u00e4 kysyminen luokkatovereilta tai muilta kavereilta. Hy\u00f6dyllisimmiksi t\u00e4st\u00e4 ryhm\u00e4st\u00e4 koettiin sanakirjan k\u00e4ytt\u00f6, oppikirjojen sanalistat, k\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6ksen tai vihjeen kysyminen opettajalta, kysyminen luokkatovereilta tai muilta kavereilta sek\u00e4 arvaaminen kontekstista. J\u00e4lkimm\u00e4isest\u00e4 ryhm\u00e4st\u00e4 k\u00e4ytetyimm\u00e4t strategiat olivat puolestaan sanalistojen avulla harjoittelu, sanojen verbaalinen toisto sek\u00e4 sanan kirjoitusasun tarkastelu. Hy\u00f6dyllisimmiksi koettiin edell\u00e4 mainittujen k\u00e4ytetyimpien strategioiden lis\u00e4ksi my\u00f6s sanan kirjallinen toisto, sanojen kysely, sanastotestit sek\u00e4 tietoinen opiskelu englanninkielisen median kautta. Suomalaiset lukio-opiskelijat tuntuvat siis k\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4n niit\u00e4 strategioita, jotka ovat jo todenneet toimiviksi. N\u00e4m\u00e4 ovat monesti kognitiivisia strategioita, jotka ovat toistoon nojautuvia ja mekaanisia tapoja opiskella sanastoa. Avoimista kysymyksist\u00e4 nousi esiin etenkin Quizlet-nimisen opiskelusovelluksen runsas k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 vastaajien keskuudessa.
