Tutkielma on toteutettu kirjallisuuskatsauksena ja siinä todetaan, että GaaSmalli tarkoittaa pelin aktiivista ylläpitoa pitkään julkaisun jälkeen ja pelin ympärille muodostuvan yhteisön huomioon ottaminen päätöksenteossa. Yrityksiltä tämä vaatii ennen kaikkea uudenlaista näkökulmaa pelien suunnitteluun, muutoksia ansaintamalleihin ja uuden, yhteisönhallinnan taitavan, henkilöstön hankkimista. Samalla useiden muidenkin työntekijöiden toimenkuva muuttuu, koska he pysyvät huomattavasti pidempään saman projektin parissa. This study is conducted in order to find out how offering video games as a service affects businesses operating in the video game industry. The meaning of Games as a Service (GaaS) -model is also explained. The study has been conducted as a literary review. In the study, it has been discovered that GaaSmodel comprises of active maintenance of the game over a long period of time, while also taking the player community into consideration when making decisions about the game. From the companies this requires a new perspective on game design and changes to revenue models. New personnel with community management skills is also required. At the same time the job description for many existing employees will change, as they will no longer be moving on to new projects in such short intervals.
