N\u00e4iden elementtien ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4minen on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4, sill\u00e4 ne vaikuttavat pelikokemukseen. Tutkielma suoritettiin kirjallisuuskatsauksena. Tutkielman tavoitteena oli ensin perehty\u00e4 immersion, l\u00e4sn\u00e4olon ja flow-tilan esiintymiseen peleiss\u00e4 kirjallisuuden kautta, jonka j\u00e4lkeen tarkasteltiin l\u00e4sn\u00e4olon ja flow-tilan suhteita immersioon. Lopuksi selvitettiin immersion esiintymiseen vaikuttavia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4 peleiss\u00e4 sek\u00e4 n\u00e4iden roolia virtuaalitodellisuuspeleiss\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi arvioitiin mink\u00e4laisia haasteita virtuaalitodellisuusteknologia esitt\u00e4\u00e4 immersiolle. Tutkielmassa havaittiin, ett\u00e4 immersion konsepti on edelleen hajanainen ja sen yhten\u00e4ist\u00e4minen vaatii lis\u00e4\u00e4 tutkimusta. L\u00e4sn\u00e4olo on immersion kanssa hyvin l\u00e4heinen k\u00e4site ja n\u00e4iden kahden k\u00e4sitteen erottelu\nvaatii viel\u00e4 lis\u00e4\u00e4 tutkimusta. Kirjallisuudessa immersio todettiin olevan edellytys flow-tilalle ja esitettiin, ett\u00e4 flow-tila on immersion \u00e4\u00e4rimm\u00e4inen taso. Tutkimus nosti esille useita immersioon vaikuttavia tekij\u00f6it\u00e4, jotka t\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkielmassa jaettiin viiteen avainkohtaan: teknologiaan, peliin, pelaajaan, vuorovaikutukseen ja kontekstiin liittyviin tekij\u00f6ihin. N\u00e4m\u00e4 tekij\u00e4t esiintyv\u00e4t my\u00f6s virtuaalitodellisuuspeleiss\u00e4, mutta teknologia vaikuttaa n\u00e4iden esiintymiseen.\nTutkielmassa havaittiin useita tapoja, joilla virtuaalitodellisuusteknologia edist\u00e4\u00e4 immersiota, esimerkiksi parannetun teknologisen suorituskyvyn ja voimakkaamman tunteellisen sitoutumisen avulla. Understanding these elements is important since they effect\nplayer\u2019s enjoyment of the game. This study was conducted in the form of a literature review. The goal of this thesis was first to examine the appearance of immersion, presence and the flow-state in games from literature, and then analyze how presence and the flow-state are related to immersion. Finally, it is examined what elements effect immersion in games, and how these relate to virtual reality and what challenges the new technology might present to immersion. The literature review suggests that immersion is still a disjointed concept\nand requires more research to unify. Presence is closely related to immersion\nand separation of these two concepts requires more research. Immersion seems\nto be a prerequisite for achieving flow and the flow-state is the extreme end of\nimmersion. This study summarizes the elements effecting immersion as five\nkey factors: elements related to technology, the game, the player, interaction\nbetween the game and the player and the context. These elements are also present in virtual reality games, however the technology effects how they\u2019re presented.
