Valmentava \njohtaminen on yksi vastaus yrityksien jatkuvasti muuttuvien ja kehittyvien \nty\u00f6ymp\u00e4rist\u00f6jen haasteisiin. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen viitekehyksess\u00e4 valmentavaa \njohtamista k\u00e4sitell\u00e4\u00e4n kattok\u00e4sitteen\u00e4, joka pit\u00e4\u00e4 sis\u00e4ll\u00e4\u00e4n coachingia, mento-\nrointia ja fasilitointia. Jaottelun luominen vastaa tarpeeseen selkiytt\u00e4\u00e4 valmen-\ntamisen vakiintumatonta terminologiaa. Tutkimuksessa avataan suomalaisen \nmyyntiorganisaation esimiesten ja myyjien n\u00e4kemyksi\u00e4 valmentavasta johta-\nmisesta ja siihen liittyvist\u00e4 k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteist\u00e4. Tutkimus on luonteeltaan laadullinen \nja aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin haastattelujen avulla. Aiempi valmentamiseen liittyv\u00e4 tut-\nkimus on keskittynyt p\u00e4\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6isesti esimiesten n\u00e4k\u00f6kulmiin, ja valmentami-\nsen tutkimus myyntiorganisaatioissa on ollut v\u00e4h\u00e4ist\u00e4. T\u00e4m\u00e4n tutkimuksen \ntulokset vahvistavat aiempien tutkimusten l\u00f6yd\u00f6ksi\u00e4 valmentamiseen liitetty-\njen k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteiden osalta, sek\u00e4 syvent\u00e4v\u00e4t niit\u00e4 tuomalla eri organisaatiotasojen \n\u00e4\u00e4nen kuuluviin. Tutkimustulosten selkeimp\u00e4n\u00e4 erona aikaisempaan tutki-\nmukseen on kohdeorganisaation henkil\u00f6st\u00f6n n\u00e4kemykset harjoittelusta osana \nvalmentamista. Tutkimuksen suurin hy\u00f6ty kohdeorganisaatiolle on valmenta-\nmiseen liitettyjen k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteiden nykytilan selvitt\u00e4minen, mik\u00e4 mahdollistaa \nsuunnitelman tekemisen valmentavan johtamisen kehitt\u00e4miseksi. Tutkimuksen \ntuloksista selvi\u00e4\u00e4, ett\u00e4 esimiehill\u00e4 on samankaltaisia k\u00e4sityksi\u00e4 valmentamiseen \nliitetyist\u00e4 k\u00e4yt\u00e4nteist\u00e4, mutta myyjien n\u00e4kemykset valmentamisesta eroavat \ntoisistaan huomattavasti.
