Tutkimus toteutettiin osana isompaa, Suomen Akatemian rahoittamaa TIKAPUU \u2013 Alakoulusta yl\u00e4kouluun -tutkimusprojektia. Tutkimuksen aineisto (n = 848) koostui kahden keskisuomalaisen kunnan koulujen oppilaista, joita tutkittiin kuudennelta luokalta seitsem\u00e4nnelle luokalle. T\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin kuudennen luokan syksyn ja seitsem\u00e4nnen luokan kev\u00e4\u00e4n mittauksia, jolloin nuoret t\u00e4yttiv\u00e4t kyselyn koskien seurusteluaan ja oppimismotivaationsa eri puolia (t\u00e4ysin sis\u00e4inen motivaatio, identifioitunut motivaatio, sis\u00e4\u00e4np\u00e4in k\u00e4\u00e4ntynyt ulkoinen motivaatio ja t\u00e4ysin ulkoinen motivaatio sek\u00e4 amotivaatio). Tutkimuskysymyksiin vastattiin ristiintaulukoinnin, riippumattomien otosten t-testin ja toistettujen mittausten varianssianalyysin avulla. Aineisto analysoitiin SPSS-ohjelman versiolla 24.\nTulokset osoittivat, ett\u00e4 8,5 % nuorista seurusteli kuudennella luokalla ja 9 % nuorista seurusteli seitsem\u00e4nnell\u00e4 luokalla. Riippumattomien otosten t-testit osoittivat, ett\u00e4 kuudennella luokalla seurustelevat ja ei-seurustelevat nuoret eiv\u00e4t eronneet toisistaan oppimismotivaation suhteen. Sen sijaan seitsem\u00e4nnen luokalla seurustelevat nuoret raportoivat v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n identifioitunutta motivaatiota ja enemm\u00e4n amotivaatiota ei-seurusteleviin nuoriin verrattuna. Toistettujen mittausten varianssianalyysit osoittivat edelleen, ett\u00e4 nuorten sis\u00e4inen motivaatio, identifioitunut motivaatio ja sis\u00e4\u00e4np\u00e4in k\u00e4\u00e4ntynyt ulkoinen motivaatio v\u00e4heniv\u00e4t kuudennelta seitsem\u00e4nnelle luokalle. Sen sijaan t\u00e4ysin ulkoisessa motivaatiossa ja amotivaatiossa ei tapahtunut muutoksia siirtym\u00e4n aikana. Kuudennen luokan seurustelu ei my\u00f6sk\u00e4\u00e4n ennustanut oppimismotivaation kehityst\u00e4 mink\u00e4\u00e4n motivaation muodon kohdalla. Sen sijaan identifioitunut motivaatio v\u00e4heni ja amotivaatio lis\u00e4\u00e4ntyi kuudennelta seitsem\u00e4nnelle luokalle niill\u00e4 nuorilla, jotka seurustelivat seitsem\u00e4nnell\u00e4 luokalla.\nTutkimuksen perusteella voidaan p\u00e4\u00e4tell\u00e4, ett\u00e4 vaikka sis\u00e4inen oppimismotivaatio n\u00e4ytt\u00e4isi laskevan kaikilla nuorilla koulusiirtym\u00e4ss\u00e4, seurustelivat tai eiv\u00e4t, amotivaatiota oli enemm\u00e4n seitsem\u00e4nnell\u00e4 luokalla seurustelevilla.
