Kirjallisuuskatsauksen hakuprosessin jälkeen jokaisesta neljästä oppimisen- ja innovaation taidoista havaittiin positiivisia tutkimustuloksia. Kognitiokykyyn liittyvää tutkimusta esiintyi eniten, mutta katsauksen perusteella kaikkia tulevaisuuden taitoja olisi mahdollista kehittää peleihin perustuvalla oppimistavalla. Although game-based learning has been proven to enhance learning, there is still a need to more accurately identify what digital games can best teach. The literature review conducted in this paper will aim to identify which of the 21st century skills game-based learning can effectively enhance, and whether some of the skills can be thaught more efficiently than others. Based on the results of the review, all of the four innovation and learning skills can be effectively taught by game-based learning, with critical thinking and problem solving being the most frequently studied skill.
