Neuroverkkoparadigma on lyhyessä ajassa tullut jäädäkseen osaksi modernia konekääntämistä. In recent years, neural machine translation (NMT) has become a major competitor for the formerly predominant statistical machine translation (SMT). In this thesis, NMT and SMT are compared in terms of translation quality and efficiency. It is found that NMT performs better on almost every aspect when it comes to translation quality. In efficiency and optimicing the translation results, however, there is still room for improvement when compared to SMT. The neural paradigm has come to stay as a part of modern machine translation.
