Tutkimukseen osallistui \nyhteens\u00e4 viisi opettajaa: kolme luokanopettajaa ja kaksi aineenopettajaa. \nAineistonkeruumenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 k\u00e4ytin puolistrukturoitua haastattelua sek\u00e4 \nhavainnointia. Tutkimusmenetelm\u00e4n\u00e4 toimi fenomenografia, jonka avulla \nluokittelin aineistosta nousevat k\u00e4sitteet nelj\u00e4n kategorian alle: toiminnallisen \nmatematiikan mahdollisuudet, edut ja haasteet sek\u00e4 mit\u00e4 k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 edellytt\u00e4\u00e4 \nopettajalta. Kuvasin niit\u00e4 narratiivin kerronnan avulla. \nToiminnallinen matematiikka mahdollistaa syv\u00e4llisemp\u00e4\u00e4 ymm\u00e4rt\u00e4mist\u00e4 \nmatematiikasta, aktivoi oppilasta ja lis\u00e4\u00e4 luokkahuoneen vuorovaikutusta. \nTulosten mukaan sen k\u00e4ytt\u00f6 tarjoaa my\u00f6s oppilaalle mahdollisuuden \nomakohtaisten kokemusten saamiseen, lis\u00e4\u00e4 matematiikan opiskelun \nmielekkyytt\u00e4, tarjoaa konkretiaa sek\u00e4 huomioi oppilaiden yksil\u00f6llisi\u00e4 tarpeita. \nK\u00e4yt\u00f6n haasteina nousi esiin toimintav\u00e4lineiden saatavuus, dokumentoinnin \nvaikeus, oppimisymp\u00e4rist\u00f6, koulun toimintakulttuuri ja erityisesti lukioissa \najan puute.
