Lis\u00e4ksi tutkimme miten persoonallisuuspiirteet ovat yhteydess\u00e4 heid\u00e4n fyysiseen aktiivisuuteensa ja koulumenestykseens\u00e4. Vertailimme my\u00f6s, onko sukupuolten v\u00e4lill\u00e4 eroja persoonallisuuspiirteiss\u00e4, koulumenestyksess\u00e4 sek\u00e4 fyysisess\u00e4 aktiivisuudessa.\nTutkimuksen otanta koostui kolmen eri koulun 8-luokkalaisista oppilaista. Aineisto ker\u00e4ttiin keskisuuresta kaupungista Keski-Suomesta. Tutkimukseen osallistui 118 oppilasta, joista tytt\u00f6j\u00e4 oli 61 ja poikia 56. Persoonallisuuden piirteiden mittaamiseen k\u00e4ytimme Saucierin (1994) luomaa persoonallisuuden lyhyttesti\u00e4, joka on lyhennetty versio Goldbergin (1990) Trait descriptive adjectives (TDA) mittarista. Mittarin luotettavuutta arvioitiin cronbachin alfakertoimilla, jonka vaihteluv\u00e4li oli 0,52-0,84. Fyysisen aktiivisuuden mittaamiseen k\u00e4ytimme kolmea LIITU- tutkimuksessa k\u00e4ytetty\u00e4 fyysisen aktiivisuuden kysymyst\u00e4. Koulumenestyksen mittaamiseen k\u00e4ytimme kev\u00e4ttodistuksen kaikkien aineiden keskiarvoa sek\u00e4 kahdeksan erikseen pyydetyn oppiaineen arvosanaa. Muuttujien v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 yhteyksi\u00e4 analysoitiin korrelaatioilla sek\u00e4 varianssianalyysill\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi ryhmien v\u00e4lisi\u00e4 eroja tarkasteltiin riippumattomien otosten t-testill\u00e4.\nTyt\u00f6t menestyiv\u00e4t poikia paremmin l\u00e4hes kaikissa oppiaineissa, ja tytt\u00f6jen keskiarvo oli poikia tilastollisesti eritt\u00e4in merkitsev\u00e4sti korkeampi. Tulosten mukaan pojat olivat fyysisesti aktiivisempia kuin tyt\u00f6t. Tytt\u00f6jen ja poikien persoonallisuutta kuvaavat Big Five piirreteaorian mukaiset piirteet (Goldberg 1990) erosivat tilastollisesti merkitsev\u00e4sti toisistaan ainoastaan neuroottisuuden osalta. Tyt\u00f6t saivat korkeammat arvot neuroottisuuden piirteist\u00e4 kuin pojat.\nTutkimuksessamme selvisi, ett\u00e4 ekstroversiopiirre oli my\u00f6nteisesti yhteydess\u00e4 fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen ja neuroottisuus oli kielteisesti yhteydess\u00e4 fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen. Koulumenestyst\u00e4 tutkittaessa neuroottisuus oli yhteydess\u00e4 heikompaan koulumenestykseen ja sovinnollisuus sek\u00e4 tunnollisuus olivat yhteydess\u00e4 parempaan koulumenestykseen. Ekstroversio oli my\u00f6nteisesti yhteydess\u00e4 vain taito- ja taideaineisiin (liikunta, musiikki ja k\u00e4sity\u00f6).\nTutkimuksemme tulosten perusteella voidaan sanoa, ett\u00e4 persoonallisuudella oli yhteys fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen sek\u00e4 koulumenestykseen. Jokaisen opettajan ja kasvattajan olisikin t\u00e4rke\u00e4 pohtia, kuinka hyvin tunnistaa eri persoonallisuuden piirteit\u00e4 oppilaissaan. POPS 2014 mukaan jokainen oppilas tulisi kohdata yksil\u00f6n\u00e4, joten opettajien on t\u00e4rke\u00e4\u00e4 osata ottaa huomioon eri persoonallisuuspiirteet opetuksessa, kasvatuksessa sek\u00e4 arvioinnissa.", "language": "fi", "element": "description", "qualifier": "abstract", "schema": "dc"}, {"key": "dc.description.abstract", "value": "The aim of the study was to find out what kind of personality characteristics, the amount of physical activity, and the quality of school grades 8 students have. We also examine how personality characteristics are associated to their physical activity and school success. We also compare the differences between the sexes in personality, school performance, and physical activity.\nThe sample of the survey consisted of three 8-grade classes in three schools. The data was collected from a medium sized city in Central Finland. The study included 118 pupils, of whom 61 were girls and 56 boys. For the measure of the personality characteristics, we used Saucier's (1994) lucrative personality short test, a shortened version of the Goldberg (1990) Trait descriptive adjectives (TDA). The reliability of the measurement was estimated by the Cronbach alpha coefficients, ranging from 0.52 to 0.84. To measure physical activity, we used three questions of physical activity used in the LIITU study. For measuring school success, we used the average of all the materials in the spring evaluation and the grade of eight separately studied subjects. The correlations between the variables were analyzed by correlations and variances analysis; in addition, the differences between the groups were examined by t-test of independent samples.\nIn our study results showed that the 8th grade students received the highest values of conscientiousness and extroversion. The lowest values for the 8th grade were neuroticism. Students estimated number of physical activity was 4.5 times a week for 60 minutes. The average of students school success was 8.7.\nOur research showed that the extroversion circuit was positively associated with physical activity and neuroticism was negatively linked to physical activity. Measuring the school success, we found that neuroticism was associated with inferior school achievement, and conciliation and conscientiousness were associated with better school achievement. The Extroversion was positively related only to the arts and subjects (sport, music and crafts).\nThe girls performed better than boys in almost all school subjects, and the reports average of girls was statistically significantly higher than the boys. According to the results, boys were physically more active than girls. The Big Five personality features of girls and boys differed statistically from each other only in terms of neuroticism. Girls got higher values of neurotic features than boys.\nBased on the results of our research it can be concluded that personality has a assosiation with physical activity and school achievement. Each teacher and educator should think about of how to recognize different personality features in their pupils.
