Mitä pidempään pelaaja on mukana pelissä, sitä suuremman tuoton pelintarjoaja saa, joko kuukausimaksuina tai pelaajan mahdollisesti pelin sisällä käyttämän rahan kautta. Tutkielma toteutettiin kirjallisuuskatsauksena. Kirjallisuudesta haettiin, jaoteltiin ja analysoitiin eri tekijöitä käyttäen asiakasuskollisuuden yleisiä malleja ja kahta eri versiota TAM-mallista. Tämän lisäksi listattiin tehtyyn analyysiin perustuen konkreettisia asioita sitoutumiseen liittyen pelisuunnittelua helpottamaan. Tuloksena löydettiin sosiaalisuuden vahva merkitys MMORPG-peleihin sitoutumisessa. Pelin sisäinen sosiaalinen interaktio, hyvät sosiaaliset verkostot pelin sisällä ja pelin ulkopuolisten sosiaalisten kontaktien vaikutus olivat hyvin merkittävässä roolissa peliin sitoutumisessa. Lisäksi pelaajan henkilökohtaisen motivaation rooli, ja sisällön suunnittelu eri pelaajasegmenteille tämän mukaisesti olivat myös merkittäviä. Samoin flown käsite ja pelaajan oma koettu kontrolli peliin nousivat esille merkitsevinä tekijöinä. This thesis investigated player commitment to MMORPG:s. MMORPG stands for Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game. For the game developer it is essential to get the player to stay in the game for as long as possible. The longer the player stays, the more the developer is expected to get revenue from that player, either through monthly payments, or through money spent by the player inside the game. This thesis was written as a literary review. Factors to player commitment were searched from the literature, classified and analyzed, using general models of customer loyalty and two different versions of the TAM model. In addition to this, specific concrete things related to player commitment were listed, based on the analysis, with the aim of helping game design. Social elements were found to be a significant factor in player commitment to MMORPG:s. These include social interaction within the game and good social networks both inside and outside of the game. The role of the personal motivation of the player, and the tailored design of content to different player segments were also significant. The concept of flow and the player’s perceived control in the game were as well seen as important factors.
