Puutarhaj\u00e4tteit\u00e4 k\u00e4sitell\u00e4\u00e4n joko \r\nkompostien tukiaineena, kompostoidaan sellaisenaan tai muiden j\u00e4tteiden kanssa. \r\nT\u00e4ss\u00e4 tutkimuksessa selvitettiin Mustankorkean j\u00e4tekeskuksessa puutarhaj\u00e4tteen \r\ntuotteistamista aumakompostoimalla. Mustankorkean kompostointikent\u00e4lle \r\nmuodostettiin viisi erilaista aumaa joko murskaamattomasta puutarhaj\u00e4tteest\u00e4 tai \r\nmurskatusta puutarhaj\u00e4tteest\u00e4 ilman tukiainetta tai erilaisten tukiaineiden tai \r\ntukiaineyhdistelmien kanssa. Kent\u00e4ll\u00e4 monitoroitavia ominaisuuksia olivat \r\nl\u00e4mp\u00f6tila, happi- ja metaanipitoisuus ja laboratoriossa m\u00e4\u00e4ritettiin \r\nkosteuspitoisuus, orgaanisen aineksen osuus, pH, johtokyky sek\u00e4 kokonaistyppi. \r\nLis\u00e4ksi haittakasvien tuhoutumisen indikaattorina k\u00e4ytettiin tomaatinsiementesti\u00e4. \r\nReilun puolen vuoden j\u00e4lkeen kokeiden aloittamisesta aumoista otettiin n\u00e4ytteet \r\nloppuanalyysi\u00e4 varten. Loppuanalyysiss\u00e4 aumoista m\u00e4\u00e4ritettiin erilaisia fysikaalis-\r\nkemiallisia ominaisuuksia, joiden perusteella arvioitiin aumojen kypsyytt\u00e4 ja \r\nsoveltuvuutta hy\u00f6dynnett\u00e4v\u00e4ksi maanparannuskompostina tai kasvualustana. \r\nKaikkien aumojen l\u00e4mp\u00f6tila s\u00e4ilyi muutaman kuukauden seurantajakson aikana \r\np\u00e4\u00e4s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6isesti noin 60-75 \u00baC v\u00e4lill\u00e4. Aumojen happipitoisuudet olivat riitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 \r\nkompostoitumiselle ja kosteuspitoisuus vaihteli noin 40-50 % v\u00e4lill\u00e4. \r\nPuutarhaj\u00e4tteen murskaaminen n\u00e4kyi orgaanisen aineksen ja kokonaistypen \r\nsuurempana m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4n\u00e4. Tomaatinsiementestin perusteella l\u00e4mp\u00f6tilat olivat riitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 \r\ntuhoamaan tomaatinsiementen elinkyky, mik\u00e4 indikoi, ett\u00e4 l\u00e4mp\u00f6tilat voisivat olla \r\nriitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 haittakasvien tuhoutumisessa. In composting, garden waste is commonly \r\nused as a bulking agent, composted alone or with other waste streams. The aim of \r\nthis study was to investigate the productization of graden waste by windrow \r\ncomposting at the Mustankorkea\u00b4s waste treatment facility. Five windrows were \r\nconstructed in the composting field of the Mustankorkea, either using uncrushed \r\ngarden waste or crushed garden waste with or without bulking agents or bulking \r\nagent combinations. Temperature and oxygen and methane concentrations were \r\nmonitored in the field, and moisture content, volatile solids, pH, EC and total \r\nnitrogen were determinated in the laboratory. Tomato seed test was used as an \r\nindicator of the destruction of the weed\u00b4s and invasive plant species\u00b4s seeds in the \r\nprocess. After seven months of composting, samples were taken from the windrows \r\nfor the determination of the final quality of the composts. Different physical and \r\nchemical properties were determinated to assess the maturity and stability of the \r\ncomposts and suitability as a soil improver or manufactured soil. The temperature \r\nvaried mostly in the range of 60-75 \u00b0C during the monitoring period. The amounts \r\nof oxygen in windrows were good enough for composting and the moisture content \r\nvaried in the range of 40-50 %. The amounts of VS and total nitrogen were higher in \r\nthe windrows that contained crushed garden waste. The results of the tomato seed \r\ntest indicated that the temperatures of the windrows could be high enough to \r\ndestroy the seeds of weed and invasive plant species. The final quality analysis of \r\nthe composts indicated that only the windrows that contained rough wood chips as \r\na bulking agent were stabilized and matured and might be suitable as a soil \r\nimprover or manufactured soil after addition of sand.
